Business Development Director directs the execution of the business development vision, strategy, plans, and processes to drive sales, increase revenue, expand markets, and accomplish financial objectives. Identifies and evaluates new markets, partners, channels, and customers. Being a Business Development Director develops and uses contacts and relationships within the industry, business environment, and customer base to understand and respond to competition, pricing, and product demand changes. Oversees the development of proposals and contracts for new business opportunities and manages negotiations. Additionally, Business Development Director collaborates with marketing, sales, product development, and other stakeholders to support business development plans. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to top management. The Business Development Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Business Development Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.     The Director of Business Development will scale the business by communicating and delivering the differentiated value Terrasmart brings to existing and new customers. The opportunity to build long-term partnerships is unique in the industry given Terrasmart's vertically integrated products, services and smart solutions. To capitalize on this, the Director of Business Development will need to develop and execute a business plan that aligns business and customer needs, identify and nurture new customers, create awareness of our value proposition, engage prospects, gain market share, and bolster our position as industry leader.

    Primary Accountabilities (Essential Duties):

    • Creation and execution of a detailed business plan focused on territory and account development, and prospect engagement
    • Identifying new business opportunities and creating clear strategies to convert them
    • Establishing strong customer relationships and maintaining a positive customer experience throughout the sales and project execution (post-sale) process
    • Developing trust & relationships with customers/prospects and recommending appropriate solutions based on their needs
    • Identify trends and customer needs to build a short/medium/long-term sales pipeline in accordance with targets
    • Coordinating the information flow around sales activities and providing forecasts and market intelligence to marketing and sales
    • Building market intelligence by studying the market and understand the drivers, geographies, price levels. Understand the technology and developments in the market. Analyze the competitors and their business values, differentiation and market approach. Share this input with marketing and product teams to support development and positioning of relevant, profitable offerings

    Education / Experience: (an equivalent combination of education and/or experience)

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Sales, Business, or Related
    • 7 Years of Experience Senior level of Sales, preferably in Solar industry
