We are looking to appoint a Global Talent & Development director to partner the Oncology Business Unit , leading the execution of the AZ Talent & Development Strategy.
The AZ Talent strategy will shape the way that we develop our early, mid and late stage pipeline of talent through implementing cutting edge development methodology, behavioural assessments, stretch assignments and analytical insights to help our people thrive and realise their full potential. Responsibilities:
As Talent & Development Director for the Oncology Business Unit you will lead, design and deliver activities to accelerate the development of AstraZeneca high potential employees. A strategic business partner to functional area your key stakeholders will include the Senior Executive Teams (SET), Senior Leadership Teams, HR Leadership Teams/VP, & HR Business Partners.
You will work with the business to understand and translate the key 0-3 year succession pipelines and talent/capability insights, leveraging and reviewing the outputs from the SET area strategic workforce plan to lead, design, and deliver activities to accelerate the BCR pipeline of talent and development of our high potential employees. This also includes working closely with the Talent Scouts and HRBP/VP’s to build external succession insights, ensuring we have an a full talent pipeline of ready now, ready later talent (internal & external) for all business-critical roles.
You will own the annual talent review cycle that informs SET area and AZ enterprise succession plan, working in close collaboration with the HRVP & SMT to build and maintaining the plan, providing demographic analysis and insights into the progress and/or challenges versus the previous year. Through 1-1’s and talent engagement forums, you will build up a strong knowledge of the high potential candidates in your SET area, providing support with career coaching and development planning to accelerate their growth. Working collaboratively across other SET areas to support building a talent market place, you’ll take the lead in ensuring that the candidates in your SET area are discussed and given exposure to exciting cross functional stretch development opportunities.
As a key brand ambassador for the Talent & Development Centre of Expertise (CoE) you will provide insights and connections to all aspects of the CoE’s value proposition, consulting with the business and involving other members of the CoE to support and contribute to the business deliverables as required (Leadership Development, Workforce Analytics etc). This includes championing the AZ2025 goal of building a culture of life-long learning, coaching and feedback, and a diverse pipeline of future leaders.
Working with the Head of Talent, and the network of T&D Partners - you will contribute to the development of our global suite of talent and development offerings. Providing both SME and business insights into the design to ensure the voice of the customer is embedded into our CoE outputs. This also includes supporting the establishment and leading the delivery of the SET area early talent programmes, role specific development centre’s (e.g Country President, Legal or Operations Site GM), and identifying candidates to participate in key enterprise events such as Rising Leaders.
You will contribute to building and maintaining SET area Talent dashboards and the measuring of ROI, along with the design, development or execution of global Talent & Development products as required.
Key success measures will be the engagement of our people.
Qualifications & Experience:
Extensive experience within Talent Development, Organisation Development, or Strategic HR Business Partnering/large market HRD
Ability to demonstrate working across a global matrix, and leading complex projects
Experience consulting, facilitating and presenting to groups and leaders at all organizational levels including exec level.
Ability to effectively operate in an environment of constant change and able to work with ambiguity
Strong analytical mind, creative and critical thinking and problem-solving skills
Demonstrate expertise and global operational HR experience, ideally in talent development or related activity.
Business and commercial acumen (appreciation of the Commercial or R&D business environments) coupled with results orientation
Bachelor's degree
Strong collaboration and influencing skills to create partnerships to implement change; consistently displays a readiness and willingness to share knowledge; is open to different perspectives and to building consensus
