Business Development Manager manages the daily execution of the business development strategy, plans, and processes to drive sales, increase revenue, expand markets, and accomplish financial objectives. Coaches teams in best practices and effective tactics for prospecting new markets, partners, channels, and customers. Being a Business Development Manager establishes team targets and metrics to measure the achievement of objectives. Develops and uses contacts and relationships within the industry, business environment, and customer base to understand and respond to competition, pricing, and product demand changes. Additionally, Business Development Manager makes suggestions for new product offerings or improvements to sales or marketing efforts. May administer or negotiate new business proposals and prepare contracts. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Business Development Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Business Development Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.   • Summary:

    The position of Business Development Sales Manager is a key member of the sales team that covers the Southeast territory. This position requires a proven leader with a strong business acumen, excellent communication, relationship-building skills, and a passion for growth. Position is responsible for driving growth within a designated geography.

    This position is primarily responsible for bringing on new business within their geography to grow customer base and EBITDA for the organization.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Responsible for developing and growing a book of business and maintaining a pipeline in Salesforce.
    • Manages preparation of annual budget, growth capital requirements for region and new customer base.
    • Manage the growth process; including identification of new market opportunities, development of revenue projections and oversight of new customers.
    • Develops strategy for specific geography to deliver growth objectives.
    • Manages all Sales Channels for specific geography.
    • Manages economic model approval process and prepare project packages for management review.
    • Attain organic growth through development of new business pipeline each year – delivering on EBITDA objectives.
    • Manage all administrative functions relating to relationship between Sunoco and its customers.
    • Manages sales meeting with customers.
    • Develop/manage sales, revenue, and expense budgets.
    • Provide on-going communication to senior management on competitive information, pricing and relevant market changes. 
    • Provide superior customer service by responding efficiently and in a timely manner.
    • Ability to positively interface with supporting departments (Supply, Trading, Pricing, Legal, General Accounting, Credit, Human Resources, Marketing Services).
    • Set an example for sales specialists and customers in the management of Health, Environment and Safety.  Conduct or coordinate training as necessary.  Correct areas of non-conformance to assure full compliance in all areas of HES. 

    Requirements:

    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily. The requirements for this position are listed below;

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Business.
    • Minimum of 8  years management experience required with petroleum industry experience as a preference. 
    • Ability to travel 25 - 50% of the time with overnight stays required. 
    • Complete all travel and expense related reports. 
    • Must be flexible to work evenings and weekends.

    • Usually, normal office working conditions.
    • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time due to prolonged periods of sitting or standing.
    • Overnight travel is REQUIRED.
    • Occasional visits to industrial/manufacturing settings, which may include exposure to various materials and chemicals, as well as extreme temperature conditions and loud machinery, and require appropriate personal protective equipment.
