Job Description
The Director of BI is responsible for oversight of both the technical and reporting teams that support Vistar's Business Intelligence and Reporting/Analytics initiative. The Director will lead the governance, site design, use case development and monetization efforts of the team. The Director must be able to not only engage with various business leaders in a variety of functional areas of the organization but also engage with the PFG Corporate BI organization to align on approach and data sourcing/management efforts. Must be able to lead a newer organization, provide development and guidance to managers of people, and manage multiple concurrent project/workstreams. Position requirements:

Lead and support data governance efforts for Vistar

Proven ability to communicate successfully with various business functional areas to understand data requirements; train on intake and use case development; and data owner requirements.

Maintain and improve existing BI applications and create new apps to meet business needs.

Engage with merchandising and sales organizations to continue development of our data monetization strategy including engagement of legal resources as needed to maintain quality and standards of data and product offerings.

Project manage the use case delivery process to ensure timely and complete delivery of end product. Successfully balance and prioritize workload to ensure given projects are delivered on schedule.

Maintain and continue to enhance data access controls as new apps are developed.

Support the development of people leaders and build a cross-functional team to meet and exceed expectations.

Learn quickly and adapt to changes in this fast-paced environment.

Use independent judgment and discretion to make sound decisions.

Perform complex data analysis in support of ad-hoc and standing customer requests.

Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.

Locate and define new process improvement opportunities.

Resolve database-related incidents as well as requests.

Work closely and build relationships with PFG BI organization to align approach, data access, and governance needs between Vistar and PFG

Must have foundational financial understanding of the business.
Required Qualifications
- \tBachelor's Degree or higher in any of the following areas: Information Systems, Business Administration, Statistics, Computer Science, Economics, or related STEM field preferred
- \tMinimum of 8 years of experience developing and maintaining complex database solutions
- \tMinimum 5 years of experience leading a BI and Tech cross-functional organization.
- \tMinimum 5 years of experience in change management or project management oversight
- \tAdvanced knowledge of Power BI
Preferred Qualifications
- \tExperience with SQL Server and VBA in MS Access a plus
