    This position is in the Operations/Business Intelligence Unit at the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) Headquarters in Blythewood, SC.




    ****THIS IS A THREE-MONTH PAID INTERNSHIP WITH IDEAL AND FLEXIBLE START AND END DATE WITHIN MAY 17, 2024 - AUGUST 16, 2024****




    Responsibilities of the Business Intelligence Intern

    •    Supports building and adoption of agency dashboards ensuring improved situational awareness of key agency information to be used to support business decisions and plans.  Supports cleanup and removal of dashboards that are no longer needed or used.
    •    Collaborates with business units, BI team, and IT to determine what information is required to meet the business need. Participates in analysis and interpretation to ensure information collection is valid and completely addresses the requirement.
    •    Assists in creating new dashboards and reports and coordinates with BI Team, IT Team, and end users to validate and ensure proper analysis of the returned information for accuracy.  Responsible to ensure accurate information is displayed in a standard dashboard format, easily accessible to all appropriate personnel.
    •    Participates in the agency’s data governance initiative by assisting with applicable research, development, and implementation of data governance policies, procedures, and business practices.
    •    Seeks improvements to information context through communication and idea generation.  Researches and evaluates services and products and contributes to business justifications.
    •    Performs other duties as assigned.
    Minimum Requirements

    A high school diploma or equivalent.  



    Additional Requirements

    •    Coursework, or previous experience in data visualization tools, products, and platforms; or desire to gain experience in this area.  
    •    Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.  
    •    Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.  
    •    Able to apply problem solving techniques to resolve issues. 
    •    Ability to make presentations and prepare reports.  
    •    Possess advanced computer skills and proficient in the use of Microsoft products.  
    •    Ability to create pivot tables and charts to track and report data.
    •    Under supervision, the employee is required to exercise discretion and judgment in making decisions.  May have project or team leadership responsibilities.
    •    Must have reliable transportation to Blythewood, SC.  Remote work is not available.  Flexible part-time or full-time and can vary week by week.Agency Preferred

    •    Currently enrolled in a bachelor's degree program and ideally must have completed at least one course in (or have prior work experience in using) Power BI, Tableau, SQL, R, or a comparably advanced technical or quantitative skill.  An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be accepted.
    •    A resume is highly encouraged.
