Montecito Bank & Trust is seeking a full- time Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) Specialist to join the Risk & Compliance Department. The FIU Specialist will deliver a World Class Experience by monitoring and reporting on day-to-day compliance issues with the federal Bank Secrecy Act laws and regulations, FDIC directives, and adhere to established internal policies and procedures for Anti-Money Laundering and BSA compliance. Secondary duties include reviewing fraud reports and assisting the Fraud Department in other fraud-related tasks.

Minimum Requirements, Activities, & Responsibilities

Education and Experience: 

• A high school degree or equivalent required
• A minimum of one year of banking experience with knowledge of bank operations preferred
• A minimum of one year of BSA or Fraud experience preferred

Essential Functions:

• Monitor internal reports to identify suspicious financial activity, investigate as appropriate through research and internal inquiry, document findings maintain proactive approach for detection of suspicious activity, especially through use of automated tools
• Prepare Monetary Instruments Log daily, enter into tracking log, and review for suspicious activity
• Maintain current knowledge of the Bank Secrecy Act, the USA Patriot Act, and their implementing regulations, FDIC directives, examination procedures, and related bank supervisory guidance
• Conduct verifications to ensure compliance with Office of Foreign Assets Control rules and regulations
• Assist BSA Officer with BSA/AML audits and examinations, including gathering information for responses to requests and examiner inquiries
• Create, manage, and maintain organized records for required record retention period
• CDD and BSA/AML alert clearing in Verafin
• Assist BSA staff with preparation of transaction spreadsheet/analysis for investigations and high-risk reviews
• Assists the Senior Fraud Specialist with data gathering and logging of incoming Debit Card & ACH claims
• Processes adjustments to customer accounts ensuring they are completed within required time frames and clears outstanding entries from assigned general ledger account(s)
• Completes initial investigation file set-up, including archiving copies of checks and other items, creating spreadsheets for review, and logging fraud cases 
• Provides administrative support for Fraud Manager and staff
• Other activities and duties as assigned

• Must be capable of regular, reliable and timely attendance
• Must be able to demonstrate highest levels of customer service and confidentiality with internal and external customers
