  • The Office of Statewide Pretrial Services’ (OSPS or Office) mission is to assist in the administration of justice and promote community safety by ensuring fairness and equality in the pretrial process. The OSPS is a statewide office that provides pretrial services under the Pretrial Services Act, 725 ILCS 185. The Office develops pretrial standards and employs pretrial service officers who conduct pretrial investigations and provide pretrial supervision.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES: The Investigations Supervisor provides direct supervision to investigators working within the Office of Statewide Pretrial Services (OSPS or Office) Operations Center, including assigning cases and reviewing compiled criminal histories. The Investigations Supervisor works under the general supervision of the Investigations Chief within the Division of Pretrial Operations. The required working hours for this position are Wednesday to Saturday, 2:00 PM to 12:00 AM.

    There are 2 vacancies available, 1 for each of the following shifts:

    · Sunday to Wednesday, 2:00 PM-12:00 AM

    · Wednesday to Saturday, 2:00 PM- 12:00 AM

    FUNCTIONS INCLUDE:

    • Obtains, reviews and synthesizes information daily on new arrests within all OSPS counties.
    • Assigns and tracks the compilation of pretrial defendants’ criminal histories.
    • Reviews the criminal history and assessment portions of pretrial investigation reports for accuracy.
    • Provides daily operating data to the Investigations Chief for weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports on the activities of the Section.
    • Serves as a supervisor by providing instruction, setting expectations, observing performance, providing feedback through ongoing and annual performance evaluations, participating in the hiring process, and recommending corrective or disciplinary action when necessary.
    • Accesses LEADS and other criminal databases to identify prior criminal history of defendants.
    • Enters defendant criminal history information into OSPS’ case management system.
    • Ensures criminal history data entered into OSPS’ case management system is complete and accurate, including entering information not available at the time of the investigation such as the SID number, DCN number, case number, dispositions.
    • Reviews pretrial assessments complied based on criminal history data.
    • Performs and directs the periodic criminal history checks of defendants released from custody pretrial.
    • Responds to internal and external inquiries regarding pretrial operations, including the status of pending court cases and conditions of pretrial release.
    • Maintains up-to-date working knowledge of pretrial services and related criminal justice and community corrections issues.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • A Bachelor’s Degree, or, an equivalent combination of relevant education, training, and/or experience.
    • Four years professional working experience in a public or private organization.
    • A valid Illinois Driver’s License and proof of automobile insurance to operate a personal vehicle on state business, as well as maintain a safe driving record.
    • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office products (i.e., Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook).

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Three years of supervisory experience, or, three years of OSPS Investigator experience.
    • Current certification as a LEADs operator.
    • Two or more years of working experience in pretrial services.
    • One year of supervisory experience in a public safety dispatch center.
    • A Master’s Degree.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    • Ability to sit for extended time periods.
    • Professional office working environment requiring telephone usage and ability to process written documents.
    • Ability to travel, including overnight stays, as required.
