Business Systems Analysis Director directs all aspects of an organization's business systems. Plans and implements technological service strategies within a shared services environment to support business and user needs. Being a Business Systems Analysis Director acts as major liaison with other departments to identify the business system meets the enterprise's needs. Analyzes trends and uses complex data modeling to improve business performance. Additionally, Business Systems Analysis Director requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to top management. The Business Systems Analysis Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. To be a Business Systems Analysis Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience.     Job Description

     

     

    Position: Director Information Systems and Accountability

    Reports to: Superintendent

    Supervises: All school and district level student information systems and accountability   

                         personnel.

    Pay: Central Office Administrator Scale

    FLSA Status: Exempt

     

    Nature of Work 

    Provides leadership and management for student information systems, data research and accountability. Coordinates the integration and management of student information among schools, departments, and North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI); serves as a liaison between Craven County Public School System (CCS) Technology Services, NCDPI and third-party vendors as required. Oversees application development projects relating to information systems. Provides oversight for the district’s accountability program to ensure all testing requirements and deliverables are met. Will compile, validate and analyze student assessment data and then interpret and review data with appropriate district personnel to build instructional strategies that address any identified weaknesses.

    • Comprehensive knowledge of organizational theory in support of how data should be used;
    • Comprehensive knowledge of application development projects relating to information systems;
    • Considerable knowledge of database systems with the ability to analyze and organize data within large, complex databases;
    • Considerable knowledge in compiling and analyzing student assessment data;
    • Comprehensive knowledge of accountability requirements;
    • Comprehensive knowledge of the current North Carolina student information system (PowerSchool);
    • Excellent customer service skills;
    • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills;
    • Effective oral and written communication skills;
    • Demonstrated leadership and team building skills;
    • Ability to complete complex tasks and minimize errors with attention to detail;
    • Ability to work independently and complete tasks in the absence of clear direction;

    • Ability to meet deadlines;
    • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school system staff, vendors, and external

     

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES 

    • Extensive knowledge of the current North Carolina student information system (PowerSchool) both at an executable and management level;
    • Experience with application development projects related to information systems;
    • Experience managing complex technical projects;
    • Ability to compile and analyze student assessment data and communicate the results to appropriate district personnel;
    • Ability to manage financial resources;
    • Supports development, refinement and execution of the district strategic plan;
    • Collaborates with principals and school staff to make informed decisions;
    • Manages and directs staff in support of all technology applications to help the district meet goals of the strategic

     

     

     

    SUGGESTED TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE 

    • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, business or related field from a regionally accredited college or university;
    • Five years of progressively responsible professional experience in a technology or data research leadership role or related field;
    • Experience in the supervision of others;
    • Other combinations of applicable education training and experience which provide the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform effectively in the position may be considered.
