Position Summary:

The Payroll and Benefit Specialist plays a pivotal role in ensuring the accurate and timely processing of employee compensation and benefits within an organization. This position involves managing various aspects of payroll administration and employee benefits programs. The specialist is responsible for maintaining compliance with relevant laws and regulations, as well as providing support and guidance to employees regarding payroll and benefits inquiries. Attention to detail, proficiency in payroll software systems, and a thorough understanding of benefits administration are essential for success in this role.

Skills and Abilities:
Execute end-to-end payroll processes, including data entry, verifying timekeeping records, calculating wages, and ensuring accurate deductions and withholdings.
Administer employee benefits programs, such as health insurance retirement plans, and other perks. Facilitate enrollment, answer employee inquiries, and coordinate with benefit provider to ensure smooth operation.
Stay abreast of relevant federal, state, and local regulations governing payroll and benefits administration. Ensure compliance with tax laws, labor regulations, and reporting requirements.
Maintain accurate records of payroll transactions, benefits enrollments, and other relevant documentation. Prepare reports and needed for internal and external stakeholders. Address payroll discrepancies, employee concerns, and benefits-related issues in a timely and effective manner. Collaborate with HR and finance teams to resolve complex payroll and benefits issues.
Serve as a resource for employees regarding payroll and benefits-related matters. Communicate changes in policies, procedures, and regulations to ensure understanding and compliance.
Identify opportunities to streamline payroll and benefits processes, enhance system efficiency, and improve overall service delivery. Implement best practices to optimize workflow and enhance accuracy.
Liaise with external vendors, such as payroll service providers, benefit brokers, and insurance carriers. Coordinate vendor activities and ensure service level agreements are met.
Assist with internal and external audits of payroll and benefits data. Generate reports and provide documentation as necessary to support audit activities.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Education:
Bachelor's degree (B.S.) from a four-year College or University in Accounting or equivalent field of study; and at least 2-5 years related, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Proficiency in using QuickBooks Online.
Certification, Licenses, and Registrations:
CPA is preferred.
