Being a CAD Drafter maintains deadlines, goals, and production standards set by the department. Coordinates and consults with engineers or designers to complete projects. Additionally, CAD Drafter transforms initial rough product designs into working documents using CAD software. Collaborates with design originators to resolve discrepancies between original drawings and final CAD designs. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The CAD Drafter work is closely managed. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role. To be a CAD Drafter typically requires 0-2 years of related experience.     Position Summary

    Perform advanced design and drafting functions in support of various areas such as manufacturing, research, marketing, etc. utilizing appropriate technology or tools such CAD/CAM/CATAI, etc.

    What you'll be doing

    • Promote a safe work environment
    • Train and mentor other employees
    • May participate in Continuous Improvement, Project and Safety Teams, Lean Initiatives, Value Stream led activities and defect prevention programs
    • Perform scheduled quality checks, disposition product, identify any deviations that may occur and take the appropriate action to include stopping production on the machine if necessary.
    • Lead and participate in tier meetings which include a review of safety, quality, and production goals
    • Organize and coordinate general cleaning through assigned area per GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices)
    • Under general or minimal supervision, provide advanced drafting services including layout drawings and preparation of detailed blueprints, maps, charts and graphs from general instruction and/or preliminary sketches, diagrams and schematics.
    • Converts rough product design sketches into working documents by digitizing with CAD/CAM technology or other means.
    • Reviews engineering drawings and supporting documentation to verify adherence to standard practices.
    • Has primary responsibility in using mathematical formulas to establish dimensions and tolerances.
    • May prepare detailed numerical control programs for use in production or numerically controlled machinery and/or update programs to reflect shop, engineering, or program changes.
    • Take appropriate action if any safety, quality, mechanical or discrepancy issues occur
    • Sustain a clean and safe work area using 6S principles
    • Prepare preliminary layouts, designs, and technical illustrations, etc. Utilizing appropriate methods such as CAD/CAM technology or other.
    • Perform routine to moderately complex design and drafting functions in support of various areas. Utilizing appropriate technology or tools such 2D & 3D CAD, etc.
    • Perform functions in fastlook, solid works and Mastercam.

    Work Environment

    • In either a Class III Controlled Environment which includes the following dress/gowning requirements: safety glasses, ear plugs, hairnet and beard cover or a Class I Controlled Environment which includes the following dress/gowning requirements: safety glasses, ear plugs, jumpsuit, hood, hairnet, beard cover, gloves, mask and boots (additional PPE required when cleaning)
    • Constant or intermittent exposure to elevated levels of noise and vibration
    • Involves working around moving equipment, machinery, and conveyors
    • Requires occasionally working with chemical cleaners and disinfectants

    What you'll bring

    • Associates degree or equivalent with 3 years of related experience
    • Must be at least 18 years of age
    • Minimum 6 months of manufacturing experience and demonstrated leadership skills
    • Must have basic English written and oral communication skills adequate to communicate with other team members.
    • Understand verbal and written safety and quality instructions and read and comprehend written work instructions including words and drawings.
    • Must be able to perform basic mathematics
    • Possess or be able to obtain PIV (Powered Industrial Vehicle) Operator Certification
    • Possess or be able to obtain Inspector Certification
    • Candidate to be proficient in the use of basic machinist hand tools, such as venires, calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, bore and thread gauges.
    • Candidate to be proficient in Blue Print reading, GDT experience a plus.
    • Candidate to have experience with solid works or similar.

    Preferred Experience

    • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook and the ability to learn/use enterprise software (i.e. POMS and Maximo)
    • Experience G-Zero, MasterCam, and AutoCAD software

    Physical Requirements

    • Lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds.
    • Normal visual acuity and the ability to distinguish color are necessary.
    • Must be able to pass the P.I.V. physical
    • Must be able to squat, climb, kneel, reach above shoulder level, reach at or below shoulder level, twist and bend at the neck, twist and bend at the waist and balance

The above range represents the expected salary range for this position. The actual salary may vary based upon several factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills/experience, time in the role, business line, and geographic/office location.
