Prepares computer-aided design (CAD) drafts, drawings, and schematics derived from a variety of specifications, layouts, blueprints, and sketches. Being a CAD Drafter maintains deadlines, goals, and production standards set by the department. Coordinates and consults with engineers or designers to complete projects. Additionally, CAD Drafter transforms initial rough product designs into working documents using CAD software. Collaborates with design originators to resolve discrepancies between original drawings and final CAD designs. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. ### CAD Drafter
#### Duties:
- Create detailed 2D and 3D models using CAD software such as Adobe Illustrator, Fusion 360, Photoshop and Flexi.
- Collaborate with customers, fabricators and managers to develop accurate technical drawings and schematics.
- Interpret and implement design concepts into technical drawings.
- Prepare drawings for manufacturing and construction purposes.
- Ensure drawings comply with industry standards and regulations.
- Review and revise drawings based on feedback from team members or clients.
- Maintain organized files and documentation of all drawings.
Use various CAD programs to layout signs from written instructions or verbal discussions. Produce machine ready files for 3d Print and router, draft elevation and plot drawings for permit applications, draft shop drawings for sign fabrication and installation, and design for color correct large format printing.
Evaluate the feasibility of design ideas, based on factors such as appearance, safety, function, serviceability, budget, production costs/methods, and market characteristics.
Communicate with clients on such matters as delivery dates, job status, reasons for delay, cost estimates and production details. Collaborate on creative design with clients, co-workers and management. Express creative ideas effectively both orally and in writing. Organize and manage your work load to meet productivity goals.
Have a working knowledge of Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Fusion 360 and Flexi. We're a small business, so you can also expect to get some light sign making assignments.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, wholesale suppliers and customers.
