CAD Drafter utilizes computer-aided design (CAD) software and other techniques, standards, and tools to prepare technical drawings. Prepares computer-aided design (CAD) drafts, drawings, and schematics derived from a variety of specifications, layouts, blueprints, and sketches. Being a CAD Drafter maintains deadlines, goals, and production standards set by the department. Coordinates and consults with engineers or designers to complete projects. Additionally, CAD Drafter transforms initial rough product designs into working documents using CAD software. Collaborates with design originators to resolve discrepancies between original drawings and final CAD designs. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The CAD Drafter work is closely managed. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role. To be a CAD Drafter typically requires 0-2 years of related experience. Employee may be called upon to perform any or all of the following functions:
· Revise CADD drawings per engineering markups
· Perform engineering support tasks under direct supervision (e.g. transmittals)
· Learn and apply the corporate/client standard of drafting and engineering practices
· Learn and properly use document management systems
· Take personal responsibility for the quality and accuracy of his/her work
· Bring potential project-related problems and possible solutions to the attention of the responsible party
· Travel out of town for short periods of time as required by projects and assignments
· Perform other duties as assigned
