Prepares computer-aided design (CAD) drafts, drawings, and schematics derived from a variety of specifications, layouts, blueprints, and sketches. Being a CAD Drafter maintains deadlines, goals, and production standards set by the department. Coordinates and consults with engineers or designers to complete projects. Additionally, CAD Drafter transforms initial rough product designs into working documents using CAD software. Collaborates with design originators to resolve discrepancies between original drawings and final CAD designs. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The CAD Drafter work is closely managed. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role. To be a CAD Drafter typically requires 0-2 years of related experience. The Designer/Drafter will help prepare complex drawings on a variety of projects involving mechanical, electrical, and civil/structural components for natural gas, hydrocarbon, and industrial projects. Primary responsibilities include creating detailed 3D models and producing two-dimensional construction drawings including plans, sections, elevations, details, bills of material and isometrics from the models under the direction of an engineer.
This position assists the engineering discipline leads and directs drafters as needed to keep projects on task and on schedule. Coordinates with other managers, engineers and designers in completing project assignments.
