CAD Drafter utilizes computer-aided design (CAD) software and other techniques, standards, and tools to prepare technical drawings. Prepares computer-aided design (CAD) drafts, drawings, and schematics derived from a variety of specifications, layouts, blueprints, and sketches. Being a CAD Drafter maintains deadlines, goals, and production standards set by the department. Coordinates and consults with engineers or designers to complete projects. Additionally, CAD Drafter transforms initial rough product designs into working documents using CAD software. Collaborates with design originators to resolve discrepancies between original drawings and final CAD designs. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The CAD Drafter work is closely managed. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role. To be a CAD Drafter typically requires 0-2 years of related experience. Our Drafters create new distribution and service designs for underground natural gas customers. You will provide cost effective designs and first-class customer service while balancing regulations and engineering standards.
Responsibilities:- Perform analysis and quality assurance on gas installation paperwork submitted by field personnel.
- Create drawings according to company standards based on field documentation.
- Must be attentive to detail and possess strong problem-solving skills to generate drawings corresponding with construction requirements.
- Ability to understand construction practices, methods and limitations.
- Perform data entry for incoming and outgoing documentation as required.
- Interpret field documents and translate to required or appropriate company documentation.
- Input/check Customer Work Management Information System (WMIS) as required.
- Log and track all data on AC’s and packages received from field personnel into FOMS.
- Facilitate and effectively communicate with Superintendent, General Foremen and Foremen to rectify issues discovered on paperwork.
- Create and maintain detailed spreadsheets and check lists to record construction progress on a daily basis.
- Perform other duties as requested by leadership.
Qualifications:- High School Diploma or equivalent required; degree in design or related field preferred.
- 0-5 years experience.
- Free-hand drafting required with clear legible handwriting and AUTO CAD experience preferred.
- Experience working with underground utilities is preferred.
- Proficient user of Microsoft applications including Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Working knowledge of GIS or similar mapping software is a plus, but not required.
- Excellent analytical skills with high-level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Must be comfortable and effective working in an environment with changing demands, delays and responding to unexpected situations.
- Flexibility to work varying or extended hours based on needs of business
