Prepares computer-aided design (CAD) drafts, drawings, and schematics derived from a variety of specifications, layouts, blueprints, and sketches. Being a CAD Drafter maintains deadlines, goals, and production standards set by the department. Coordinates and consults with engineers or designers to complete projects. Additionally, CAD Drafter transforms initial rough product designs into working documents using CAD software. Collaborates with design originators to resolve discrepancies between original drawings and final CAD designs. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The CAD Drafter work is closely managed. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role. To be a CAD Drafter typically requires 0-2 years of related experience. Moore Bass Consulting is a growing, well-established civil engineering firm providing consulting services throughout the southeast. Some of our many services include Civil, Environmental, Land Surveying, Land Planning, Landscape Architecture, and Construction Administration.
Moore Bass Consulting has an opening for a Drafter/Designer with an expertise in site planning and subdivision planning in our Tallahassee, FL office. Under the direct supervision of a Professional Engineer, you will primarily prepare subdivision layouts and drawings for proposed land development projects. You will learn about local regulatory, planning and zoning constraints by working closely with various professionals across the organization. GIS base maps, boundary and topographic surveys and legal descriptions are typically utilized as the base maps for planning exercises. You may serve as a lead planner or designer on zoning changes and Comprehensive Plan amendments. You will be responsible for technical performance on small projects and/or designated tasks on larger projects. The position requires a strong understanding of planning, zoning, surveying, architecture, site work grading, civil engineering design concepts, and regulatory compliance. This role requires regular interaction with our engineers and clients, excellent verbal and written communications skills are required. Position requires experience and proficiency with Civil 3D software. Experience in Sketchup and Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator is a plus.
