CAT Scan Technologist obtains patient history, explains standard procedures, and answers patient questions. Produces computerized tomographic scanner radiographs of specific areas as required by the departmental procedures. Being a CAT Scan Technologist performs obstetric and gynecological scans, ultrasound techniques and examinations, abdominal scans, retroperitoneal scans, and radiation therapy localization. Requires a high school diploma. Additionally, CAT Scan Technologist requires completion of radiologic technology training and American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) registration. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. CAT Scan Technologist's years of experience requirement may be unspecified. Functioning within the Health System’s mission, values, objectives, procedures and policies, the CT technologist performs a variety of CT procedures, both invasive and non-invasive in nature, that may require independent judgment. Must show ingenuity and initiative to prescribed ionizing radiation procedures used for radiological diagnoses. May be required to assume additional responsibilities for designated duties.
Education: Graduate of the AMA accredited Radiography Technology program or equivalent.
Licensure/Certification: Certified registered technologist of the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Radiology (ARRT). ARRT registry in CT preferred or required within 1 year of hire eligibility. Certified by the Ohio Department of Health. BLS required.
Experience: CT experience preferred.
Skills: Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the demonstrated ability to exhibit patience and tact and maintain a professional and courteous demeanor in all situations with all constituents including patients, physicians and other associates. Must also demonstrate flexibility with work schedule changes, be cooperative and collaborative, and have the documented ability to work with speed and proficiency while under stress. Performs a variety of CT exams including neuro, abdomen, ortho, and assists the Radiologist with invasive procedures.
