    Advancement Services provides timely, accurate and actionable resources to enhance fundraising and engagement activities at NC State University. We achieve this through effective business intelligence and reporting, compelling donor research and analysis, innovative technology, quality donor and alumni information, and superior customer service, all while applying ethical gift and data management practices. Advancement Services supports the operations of Alumni Engagement and Annual Giving, University Development and University Communications as well as college and unit advancement offices. The unit oversees the University’s alumni & donor database (Ellucian’s Advance Web solution), analytics and reporting systems, processing gifts and conducting research about potential contribution opportunities. Advancement Services also maintains financial records, conducts donor research, receipts private gifts following the NC State Standard Operating Procedures for Acceptance of Gifts, administers the corporate matching gifts program, updates & verifies alumni records, manages donor prospect tracking systems, and plans & manages gift agreements & endowment reports.

    Essential Job Duties
    North Carolina State University’s Advancement Services is seeking an experienced Salesforce Application Administrator. This position is part of the Application Services team within Advancement Information & Technology and reports to the Director of Application Services. The Salesforce Application Administrator will be responsible for maintaining the integrity, configuration, and support of our new constituent relationship management solution – Salesforce Sales Cloud with UC Innovation’s Ascend advancement managed package planned to launch in Fall 2024. This position will serve as the lead Salesforce Administrator while working with a team of application developers (BTA Analysts and Specialists) performing: business process analysis; change request evaluation; functional and technical specification development; coding; system integration, unit and system test development and execution; code migration; production support; & system maintenance.
    Core Responsibilities:
    • Support environment configurations for the Salesforce platform and managed packages by performing regular Salesforce administrative functions including, but limited to, creating/updating page layouts, creating/updating flows and automations, and developing custom objects and fields, and creating reports and dashboards.
    • Monitor performance, data integrity and overall health of the Salesforce environments, and complete regular system reviews and audits.
    • Coordinate sandbox seeding to ensure non-production data requirements are satisfied across multiple instances.
    • Install and upgrade managed packages and other software needed to support application systems. Current managed packages include: UC Innovation Ascend, Blackthorn, DonorSearch and several others.
    • Execute data-related requests, including data imports and ad hoc changes using Data Loader.
    • Coordinate user and application security setup including account setup, permission sets, and public group management with onboarding and training colleagues.
    • Troubleshoot user-reported issues by working with the software vendors and other IT Services departments to determine the best resolution method.

    Qualifications

    Minimum Education and Experience
    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or closely related degree from an appropriately accredited institution and three years of experience in operations analysis and design, systems programming, or closely related area OR
    • Bachelor’s degree from an appropriately accredited institution and four years of experience in operations analysis and design, systems programming or closely related area.

    Other Required Qualifications
    • At least one year of experience supporting the Salesforce platform performing administration.
    • Demonstrated understanding of Salesforce and its administration functions.
    • Ability to effectively communicate relevant subject matter to both functional and technical teams.
    • Ability to observe, understand, and respond strategically to customer needs.
    • Demonstrated aptitude for learning new technologies.
    • Excellent troubleshooting skills with the ability to analyze and resolve problems quickly.
    • Ability to establish, document, and maintain procedures and processes.

    Preferred Qualifications
    • Previous experience with a Salesforce CRM implementation, or other CRM platform.
    • Salesforce Administrator certification
    • Experience with UC Innovation Ascend managed package
    • Knowledge of higher education or non-profit advancement/fundraising operations and data
