The Program Director reports to the Prosecuting Attorney. Responsible for the day-to-day administration and operations of the Victim Assistance Program.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the direction of the Holmes County Prosecuting Attorney, the Victim Assistance Program Director will serve as the program administrator; advocate for and provide assistance to victims of crime as they navigate the criminal justice system; supervise department employees, volunteers, and activities; prepare proposals and administer grants; comply with all grant reporting requirements, create and administer program budget and financial reports; collect data and prepare reports; coordinate and collaborate with community agencies and stakeholders; develop internal and external publications such as manuals, brochures, and reports; develop and maintain forms and policies.

DIRECT SERVICES

• Advocate for victims of crime
• Explain victim’s legal rights
• Explain the criminal justice system and legal processes
• Review charges and potential penalties with victims and their families
• Assist victims in filing for Victims of Crime Compensation
• Assist victims with protection orders
• Assist victims with Victim Impact Statements
• Assist victims with restitution
• Assist victims with registering for VINE notifications
• Assist victims with accessing Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections Victim Services
• Accompany victims and/or act as victim representative in court
• Assist victims when conferring with the prosecutor, communicating with law enforcement, the probation department, or to access other services
• Notify victims of court hearings or actions, and incarceration or release of the accused
• Safety plan with victims
• Refer victims for legal, social, health and counseling services

Minimum Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s Degree in social sciences, criminal justice, or related field preferred

· Knowledge of criminal justice system, victims’ rights, and crisis intervention strategies

· Well-developed critical thinking/problem solving skills, highly organized, self-motivated

· Strong oral and written communication skills, and able to effectively communicate with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
