As a Program Director, you are responsible for supporting the overall customer experience, education, sales, and operations of the center alongside the senior management team. This position is education, business, customer service, and sales wrapped up into one.
Requirements:
Develop, implement, and enforce all policies, procedures, and protocols for the program’s operations
Responsibilities:
- Hire, train, and supervise program staff to ensure smooth program operations
- Oversee program components, including tutor hiring, tutor training, scheduling, progress reports, and leadership development across multiple sites
- Manage recruitment, enrollment, and engagement to meet program participation goals
- Set goals, establish, and sustain programs, and expand opportunities for students who need higher levels of academic support
- Provide high-quality, developmentally appropriate educational activities, such as K12 curriculum materials, assessment testing, individual inquiry, groups, and workshops
- Ensure timely and high-quality personal customer service response to all calls and inquiries; calls get answered during business hours
- Provide high-quality preparation beforehand and teaching support throughout the instructional hours
- Ensure Jump Start Tutoring brand is highly recognizable by attending, organizing, and sponsoring events at community centers, schools, and libraries to increase organic sales
- Manage staff, delegating tasks and authority, and coaching to improve staff performance
- Present at local, regional, or national conferences and write articles related to learning center leadership
- Monitor the academic progress of students by analyzing progress reports from instructors, determine eligibility and satisfactory progress toward a degree, identify current and potential needs or problem areas; such as study skills and tutoring, and help students access school resources
- Build rapport with parents and effectively convey the benefits of the tutoring center and our commitment to helping their child be successful in Reading, Math, Science, Social Studies, and Writing
- Schedule assessments and effectively enroll students
Expectations:
- Staff members will report to the director who is responsible for the productive and harmonious operation of the diverse functions of the department. Supervision includes staff meetings, providing ongoing coaching, formal or informal evaluations, staff development plans, program reviews, and being available for individual consultations
- Communicate with student caseload systematically, frequently, and intentionally through multiple methods, including but not limited to face-to-face meetings, school-supported technology solutions, e-mail, and telephone
- Provide tutors with detailed information and recommended educational consulting plans and milestones for each new student
- Track tutor performance and provide continuous support of tutors’ efforts
- Engage regularly with key stakeholders by scheduling meetings with school staff, administrators, superintendents, and school board members
- Ability to independently plan, organize, and evaluate work requirements and priorities, and select optimal methodologies and alternatives to handle normal and unusual situations
- Supervise standardized test prep tutoring and ensure all enrolled students participate
- Implement supportive activities that promote family involvement
- Manage grant writing and proposal responses to RFIs, RFQs, and RFPs, and ensure timely submission of Jump Start’s responses
- Integrate economic empowerment activities into the program, including financial literacy, internships, professional mentoring, and career exploration
- Manage persistence programming to support students' transition from high school to college and continue through graduation
- Identify new partnership opportunities, and implement resources to support persistent efforts
- Manage client prospecting, lead generation, emails, and sales calls to parents, schools, and community organizations
- Work with families (current and new) over the summer to prepare students with accommodations for the upcoming school year
- Create or curate supplemental resources, as needed, to strengthen the curriculum
- Develop and implement a comprehensive Supplemental Instruction (SI) program
- Conduct regular program assessments and evaluations to ensure program goals are met and compliance with contracts and funder agreements
- Maintain program data and prepare accurate and timely program reports
- Monitor program files to ensure compliance with regulations
- Participate in relevant task forces, coalitions, and collaborations
- Represent Jump Start Tutoring at public events and in the community
- Perform other duties as assigned
