PRIMARY FUNCTION
Under the leadership and supervision of the Branch Director, the Program Director is responsible for overseeing the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of a specific program for youth between the ages of 5 and 19 within the assigned Club. Program responsibility supports our priority outcome areas of Academic Success, Healthy Lifestyles, Good Character, and Citizenship. The Program Director also provides leadership and supervision to assigned program and volunteer staff; manages budgets and controls expenses as assigned.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Demonstrate leadership to ensure proper conduct, safety, and development of members.
2. Responsible for the development of the daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly programs at the Club.
3. Responsible for recruiting volunteers needed to run internal and external programming, including: guest speakers, program volunteers and any other necessary volunteer positions.
4. Assist with recruiting, hiring, training, disciplining, scheduling, and evaluation of part-time staff.
5. Responsible for meeting all organizational requirements established by the national association and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Georgia.
6. Ensure the evaluation of Club programs on a continual basis, including tracking outcome metrics; verify that programs/activities respond to member needs.
7. Assisting with guidance and discipline with members and following guidance procedures when following up with parents.
8. Marketing of unit and organizational programs through all media sources. Preparation and distribution to club families and posting of additional services, upcoming programs, club hours and special events throughout the Club.
9. Developing and overseeing club and community special events when assigned this duty.
10. Serving as an advocate of youth, through public speaking, serving on community groups, etc.
11. Record keeping of all programs and members. Turning in all required reports on time and in good order and keeping files on programs for future use.
12. Control Club program and activity expenditures within approved budget.
13. Responsible for assisting with the daily maintenance of equipment, facilities and vehicles.
14. Maintain easily accessible files for all Club transactions including receipts.
15. Encourage a positive environment for all individuals to learn, interact, and grow.
16. Ensure productive and effective performance by all program staff and volunteers.
17. Assist with organization and maintaining all program areas.
18. Build positive relationships with youth, volunteers, parents, schools, and community.
19. Assist with tracking daily attendance and other applicable program administrative duties.
20. Assist with preparing information for reporting purposes when necessary.
21. Fill in for Branch Director when they are unavailable.
22. Reports to Branch Director.
23. Assume other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
· Four-year degree in related field from an accredited college or university preferred; or equivalent experience
· A minimum of two years’ work experience in a Boys & Girls Club or similar organization planning and supervising activities based on the developmental needs of young people
· Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
· Group leadership skills, including an understanding of group dynamics
· Demonstrated organizational, staff and project management abilities
· Mandatory CPR and First Aid Certifications
Relationships:
· Internal: Maintains close, daily contact with Club Staff (Professional and Volunteer) and supervisor to receive/provide information, discuss issues, explain guidelines/instructions; instruct and advise/counsel
· External: Maintains contact with members, families, and the general public to give and obtain information, either in response to inquiries or as instructed by supervisor.
