    Description

    Overview of the Position:

    Manage the daily process and flow of parts within the quality control department to assure all work is completed in accordance with work instructions . Assure that all Receiving Inspectors and final out Inspectors are properly trained and are inspecting parts in accordance with customer instructions and expectations. Oversee all critical processes and quality control (inspection) personnel.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Ensure that the proper personnel are in place to accomplish objectives & goals.
    • Monitor and control Quality within the facility.
    • Manage all quality control systems, personnel, and activities including but not limited to the following areas: receiving, pre-inspection, final inspection, NDT, shot peen, nital etch, ovens and shipping.
    • Determine the final disposition of articles failing to meet the incoming inspection review.
    • Train all new employees receive to be proficient in all tasks
    • Revise master shop travelers/work instructions as required.
    • Perform self-evaluations to determine if a process can be added to the repair station Capability List
    • Process all Quality Clinic parts, warranty claims, and HOT parts in a timely manner.
    • Manage maintenance needs.
    • Manage department overtime.
    • Understand and enforce all company rules, policies, & procedures, reporting violations to Human Resources.
    • Be responsible for the overall cleanliness of the inspection areas.
    • Responsible for other inspectors performing necessary inspection procedures to insure that incoming parts meet all required specifications and standards. Prepare required paperwork for parts to process through the shop.
    • Maintain and update Inspection and Leadman rosters.
    • Maintain FAA approved function list and relevant vendors’ list.

    Other Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    • Must speak, read and write the English language.
    • Should have common computer software skills.
    • Should be able to read blueprints.
    • Have knowledge and understanding of Appendix A. Safety Procedures

    Education / Experience Requirements:

    • Must have H. S. Diploma or GED.
    • Must have at least 5 years of experience in the Aerospace and/or Quality Field.
    • Prior work experience in final inspection and/or NDT is helpful but not required.

    Language Skills:

    Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.

    Mathematical Skills:

    Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

    Reasoning Ability:

    Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

    Physical Demands and Work Environment:

    The physical demands described here are representatives of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

    • Is occasionally required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl; and lift up to 80 pounds.
    • Is regularly required to sit and use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
    • Is frequently required to talk or listen.
    • Operate fork lift.
    • Work in moderate noise levels.
    • Move (using a hand truck or fork lift) boxes up to several 100lbs. (always get help).
    • Operate motor vehicle or truck when picking up parts from or delivering to a customer.
    • No vision requirements.
