  • JOB SUMMARY: Columbia Manufacturing is a leading aerospace component manufacturer located in Columbia CT. We are looking for an experienced Quality Technician who has experience in the area of Calibration and Gage Control. Candidates should have experience in Aerospace Manufacturing, be detail oriented, comfortable with computer programs such as MS Excel, team oriented, who can help our Quality team to enhance the productivity of our organization.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to, the following:

    • Plan and perform calibration of tools and gauges.
    • Document inspection results by completing reports and inputting data into quality database. Maintaining the records of all calibrations.
    • Troubleshoot items not meeting required specifications.
    • Interpret and follow written or verbal instructions to perform technical tasks and or processes.
    • Operate a CMM to perform inspection and have a knowledge of CMM inspection and applications.
    • Assist with dimensional layout inspection to operation sheet/blueprint.
    • Assist with generation and completion of Inspection Method Sheets.
    • Understand and comply with Standard Process Instructions.
    • Assist with first piece, in-process & final Inspection of machined and sheet metal parts.
    • Collaborate with shop floor personnel and other functional groups (engineering, manufacturing, management) to resolve quality related issues.

    QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The qualified candidate must demonstrate training ability and be able to support internal customer needs. They must be committed to quality, safety, customer service and communication and be a team player. Strong organizational, analytical and communication skills are required. The successful candidate must be detail oriented, have strong skillset with MS Excel, Quality Software programs and be team oriented. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.     EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: 3 years' experience performing calibration and gauge control inspection. The candidate must be proficient in reading operation sheets, blueprints and specifications. A demonstrated proficiency with geometric tolerancing is required. Proven experience in use of a CMM. Aerospace industry quality experience is highly preferred. Must be proficient with computers, Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office programs.
