Summary

The Siding Operator is responsible for producing high quality residential siding products at the Wind Gap Plant through accuracy, timeliness and efficiency of all manufacturing processes.

The ideal candidate thrives in environments where safety, quality, service and cost are the highest priorities. The Siding Operator will perform various, rotating duties relating to all manufacturing operations.

He or she will support the managers and all plant staff to meet Wind Gap’s operational goals and perform duties as assigned.

Employees will contribute to a highly motivated and positive environment.

Schedule

Monday to Friday 6 am to 2 pm

Occasional Overtime Available

Essential Duties

• Work safely and assume responsibility for safety of self and others.
• Follow all safety rules and policies
• Rotate all four (4) work stations :

Forming Operation

• Complete Quality Assurance Reports correctly
• Complete Production Reports correctly
• Operate Machinery to current Operating Parameters
• Dump assigned amount of Raw Materials into each Batch
• Report all repairs with a Work Order to a Supervisor
• Operate scale system
• Assure all QA machinery is functioning properly (i.e. Weight Recorder)

Siding Operation

• Complete Quality Assurance Reports correctly
• Complete Production Reports correctly
• Make minor adjustments to the machine
• Report all repairs with a Work Order to a Supervisor

Autoclave Operation

• Complete Quality Assurance Reports correctly
• Complete Production Reports correctly
• Report all repairs with a Work Order to a Supervisor
• Assist on rack changes on the Punching and Finishing processes

Paint Machine Operation

• Coating Systems Operator 1 Maintain QA parametersMake minor adjustments to the machineReport all needed repairs with a Work Order to a SupervisorCollect QC samplesAssist Coating Systems Operator 2Assist operators in the running of the machine
• Coating Systems Operator 2 Maintain QA parametersMaintain paint levels on the Spray BarrelsReport all needed repairs with a Work Order to a SupervisorAssist Coating Systems Operator 1Assist operators in the running of the machines

Physical Demands

• Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions
• Be able to lift 50 pounds repetitiously, over 50 pounds occasionally (with a partner)
• Follow and complete assignments given by Supervisors; verbal and written
• Be able to climb a ladder, safely
• Operate a 4’ ratchet to tighten and loosen bolts

Under This Roof, We Value

• High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
• Ability to become a Certified Lift Truck Operator
• Able to read and write effectively and perform basic math functions
• Operator must be able to use a calculator
• Demonstrate understanding of processes, equipment and product specs
• Experience supporting production and business goals
• Knowledge of manufacturing concepts, safety practices and procedures preferred
• Positive attitude, ability to adapt and contribute to a team is critical
