    Job Description

    Public Works Operations is currently seeking an employee primarily to be part of our Camera Truck Operation team as a camera truck operator.
    Qualified applicant should be able to:
    • Lead a crew and perform routine administrative tasks using standard office equipment.
    • Train to operate remote pipeline observation equipment
    • Use specific NASSCO pipe software and asset management software to create reports and complete work orders.
    • Work with maps and understand basic drawings.
    • Lay out a job site and carry out flagging procedures.
    • Perform emergency response functions such as hurricane road clearing and snow/ice control.
    • Participate in training and skills development in construction methods and equipment operation towards career progression and personal advancement.
    • Requires the ability to use hand tools to perform labor, basic knowledge of construction and tools, and ability to learn construction equipment operation, and adhere to safety procedures. Qualified applicant should also be able to perform basic concrete and asphalt construction work and operate associated equipment as needed for assignment to other crews.

    Required Qualifications
    VOCATIONAL/EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT:
    Requires completion of 10th grade in high school. High school diploma, GED, or specialized vocational training is preferred.

    SPECIAL CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES:
    Requires a valid driver’s license and a driving record that is in compliance with City Driving Standards. A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) is required. Requires NASSCO pipeline assessment certification preferably within 18 months of hire date. Requires CDL Class A at time of interview and a tanker endorsement within 30 days of employment.

    EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:
    In addition to satisfying the vocational/education standard, this class requires a minimum of one year of related, full-time equivalent experience.

    SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
    Performance of essential functions may require exposure to confined spaces. Employees may be expected to work hours in excess of their normally scheduled hours in response to short-term department needs and/or City-wide emergencies. Emergency operations support work and work locations may be outside of normal job duties.
