    BioUrja Port of Brownsville develops commodity logistics solutions that add value and improve efficiency in the physical supply chain. Our business is concentrated around the safe and reliable operation of ethanol, sugar and grains storage and transloading terminals. 


    POSITION SUMMARY:

    The Operator position is responsible for the day-to-day Ethanol handling of operations onsite with BioUrja located in the Port of Brownsville. Periodic involvement on sugar production side of the business, also located onsite.


    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Understand training and expectations of Ethanol handling and operations with SAFETY and ENVIRONMENT being of highest priority.
    • Ensure customer satisfaction and operations excellence.
    • Maintain and observe safety culture required by the organization.
    • Competently communicate with the Location Managers for all relevant information needed to meet key objectives.
    • Skilled in Ethanol handling and operations but not limited to projects on site.
    • Periodic utility operator to assist on the sugar production side of the business.
    • Housekeeping/maintenance.
    • Daily inspections and monitoring of scales, recognizing, and reporting of deficiencies, shortcomings, and safety issues.
    • Other duties which are deemed critical and necessary to Ethanol operations or Sugar/grain as assigned.

    REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Minimum of High School diploma or equivalent. 
    • Background in Ethanol operations and procedures  required.
    • Must be able to work indoors or outdoors in any weather condition.
    • Must be able to work during any shift, including days, if needed nights, weekends, and holidays as assigned.
    • Adherence to safety procedures/guidelines at all times.
    • The position requires punctuality, consistent attendance, self-direction, and work collaboratively in a team environment for the success of the operations.
    • Able to read, speak and write English.
    • Bi-lingual in English and Spanish
    • Sitting – at a desk or computer station, standing, walking, speaking, hearing – frequent.
    • Ability to bend, stoop, twist, and lift-frequent. 
    • Gripping, reaching, writing, data entry, handling (paper, files, etc.) – frequent.
    • Able to work under stressful conditions at times.
    • Climbing - able to go up and down stairs without the fear of heights.
    • Position will require a minimum of 40 hours per week unless otherwise directed by supervisor.
