Camera Operator, Television and Motion Picture operates videotape machines, disk-based file servers, camera control units, studio cameras, video switchers, audio mixers and other equipment used in the broadcast of live and taped television programming. May be expected to maintain a variety of program/transmitter logs. Being a Camera Operator, Television and Motion Picture may require an associate's degree or its equivalent with at least 5 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Additionally, Camera Operator, Television and Motion Picture relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. Works under general supervision.     The City of Torrance is recruiting for Cable TV Production Assistants - CitiCABLE to be part of the Torrance CitiCABLE Team!

    CitiCABLE
    Torrance CitiCABLE is our City’s award-winning government access cable television channel, providing quality television programming for the community since 1983. Programming includes live coverage of bi-monthly City Council meetings, daily live news such as “TORRANCE TODAY” and news magazine shows like "Weekends in Torrance", and a variety of other programs. CitiCABLE programming has something for everyone including, businesses, families, older adults, and teens.

    The Position 

    The Office of Cable and Community Relations has part-time positions to assist in government access television production and operations. 

    Candidates must have flexible working hours and be available for evening and weekends.


    For a full a job description, click here.The position requires a minimum of one year of paid television production experience (commercial, corporate, educational, or cable television).  College education maybe substituted for experience. 

    Candidates should be experienced and or knowledgeable in the following:
    • Set-up and operation of professional field cameras; Sony PMW400L, Sony PMW300K1 (or equivalent), DSLR and/or mirror-less.
    • Post-Production editing (AVID Media Composer 8.5 or equivalent).
    • Set-up and operation of teleprompter and recording devices.
    • Set-up and operation of audio mixing for studio; PreSonus StudioLive, Behringer X32 (or equivalent) and field environments.
    • Set-up lighting for field and studio environments.
    Candidates should be able to perform duties with a minimum amount of supervision and direction.

    Ideal Candidate
    In addition to the minimum qualifications, the ideal candidate will posses:
    • Knowledge of Telemetric robotic camera systems, Live Multi–Camera
      production, Inscriber G8 Graphics, Adobe Photoshop, After Effects, YouTube uploads and administration, YouTube and Facebook Live Streaming; Matrox (or equivalent), Crispin RapidPlay automation, Leitch Services/Routers, and Harmonic Servers. 
    Experience working for a municipal cable television operation is highly desirable. Interested candidates must submit an online application and supplemental questionnaire at www.TorranceCA.Gov/Jobs.
