Description
Under general supervision, the Equipment Technician repairs all equipment associated with golf course maintenance. Responsibilities include managing a preventative maintenance schedule for equipment, training staff in safe use and proper care and maintenance of assigned equipment and advising the Superintendent regarding major equipment failures and/or replacement needs.
Requirements
Wing Point Golf & Country Club is searching for a new Equipment Technician. Our current Technician will be leaving for new adventures on March 1st, after ten years of service. We are hoping to hire his replacement soon with a start date sometime in January so that a smooth transition can be made. The new Tech will perform various aspects of greens keeping for a brief period to familiarize themselves with how we operate in the field. You will also collaborate with the current Technician to have a seamless transition until his departure.
The position is aided by a staff member that works part time as the Assistant Technician. This person keeps all records on equipment for the Equipment Tech and performs most reel grinding. The fleet of routine maintenance and mowing equipment is 50% Toro and 50% John Deere, with three Kubota tractors, three Toro spray rigs, a Caterpillar backhoe/loader, three TyCrops, Bernhard grinders, various aerators, and other tractor attachments. The club is in the process of developing a new 10,000 sq ft shop combined with a new shop yard remodel pending a vote of the membership in the coming months. The staff has ten full-time greens keepers, climbing to sixteen during the summer.
Bainbridge Island and Wing Point offer a way of life vastly different than the Seattle/Tacoma metro area. We experience little to no traffic, lower housing and rental costs, and easy commutes to nearby towns like Suquamish, Kingston, Poulsbo, and Silverdale. A ferry ride between the island and downtown Seattle is 35 minutes long and they run every 50 minutes. Access to Bainbridge Island can also be made on the north side of the island over the Agate Pass bridge to the neighboring towns of Suquamish and Poulsbo.
This job requires the ability to lift at least 50 lbs. General knowledge of hydraulic systems, gasoline, two stroke and diesel engines. Strong background in reel grinding is desired. The ability to weld proficiently is desired. This job is 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday with overtime related to aeration weeks only.
