    About the Position
    Campus Police Officers have the responsibility for enforcing campus regulations and local, state and federal laws. Incumbents are required to obtain certification or complete a basic law enforcement course as approved by the Washington State Criminal Justice Training Commission. Incumbents have arrest powers and are required to be commissioned law officers under the regulations of the state. The University Police Department practices positive community and coworker engagement. Officers must demonstrate excellence in emotional intelligence, positive morale, continuous quality improvement and friendly customer service.

    Required Qualifications
    • Accredited Associate's degree or 90 undergraduate credit hours OR equivalent education/experience
    • Demonstrated ability developing positive working relationships with diverse community members, including young adults (18-24 years old), people of color, LGBTQ people, and others from marginalized groups
    • Minimum 21 years of age
    • Effective interpersonal and cross cultural communication skills
    • Possession of a valid driver's license


    Preferred Qualifications
    • Prior police officer experience
    • Current Washington State Peace Officer Certification

    Salary

    Annual salary is $73,278 to $98,572. Additional pay comes from working holidays and overtime. A 5% raise will occur on July 1, 2024.

    This position is part of bargaining unit F and is covered by the collective bargaining agreement with the Fraternal Order of Police.
