    SUMMARY

    Under supervision, provides the safety and security of the school. Part of a team that serves as a liaison between the school administration, students, community members and police in order to ensure the observance of campus rules and security; to supervise groups of students; and to do job-related work as required.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other job-related duties may be assigned.

    Patrol the campus and parking lots to ensure that campus rules and regulations are being observed; being alert to non-students on campus; direct visitors on campus; respond to emergency situations; intervene appropriately to stop fights between students; deter vandalism of school property; recognize and respond to gang activity; recognize and stop bullying; escort students as needed; assist with searches and conduct investigations; supervise study halls and detention classes; deter students from cutting classes; secure campus buildings after school; assist with reports and records regarding student discipline; administer first aid; refer students to proper channels for assistance for emotional, social, or drug related problems; monitors school surveillance and computer security systems including program components and cameras.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Knowledge of campus rules and regulations, social and personal needs of secondary school age students, and organizations and individuals who handle emotional, social, and drug related problems of secondary school age students. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative relationships with students, school administrators and the community; analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action; take responsibility and use good judgment in recognizing scope of authority. Requires capacity to learn to work with school surveillance systems, including program components, cameras, and knowledge and experience with computer security systems. Possession of an up-to-date California Guard card. CPR & First Aid Certified required. Possession of a valid California Vehicle Operator’s License preferred..

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

    Some experience in working with secondary school age students is preferred. High school diploma or equivalent certificate. Minimum two years full-time experience working with students and/or successful course work in education; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Experience in campus supervision or related student services. Experience in work involving the welfare and safety of students or others, preferable in an educational environment.

    LANGUAGE SKILLS

    Ability to read and write at the level required for successful job performance.

    REASONING ABILITY

    Ability to choose among a limited number of alternatives in solving routine problems.

    REQUIREMENTS: Fingerprint Clearance. There is a fingerprint processing fee payable by the employee post-offer I pre-placement. Tuberculosis. The applicant will need to submit evidence that he or she is free from tuberculosis in accordance with
    Education Code 49406 post-offer I pre-placement. The successful applicant must obtain CPR and First Aid training within 3 months of employment in order to pass probation.

    Successful bilingual or American Sign Language applicant will be paid a monthly stipend of $96. This stipend will be pro-rated for positions that are less than 40 hours per week.
