    PURPOSE

    Jack’s is a food and retail marketplace on the campus of SUNY Geneseo. The Jack’s’ Supervisor assists in the smooth operation of daily processes to provide high-quality service to students, faculty, and other customers. This position is responsible for all store/cafe processes and ensures sanitation and safety practices are met in all areas of the location. This position has direct supervision of employees to ensure compliance and adherence to department policies and procedures. 

    This is a 10-month position with summer months off. The schedule (which is subject to change) is 2:00 pm - 10:30 pm Monday-Friday.

     

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 

    • Oversight of Jack's Market to ensure high customer satisfaction in products and experience while driving company objectives
    • Responsible for product choice and placement
    • Create product placement and organizing space to utilize space and increase sales. 
    • Collaborate with the marketing team to promote Jack’s to increase awareness and revenue
    • Maintain monthly and annual sales targets
    • Anticipate and mitigate customer service comments or concerns
    • Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing, following, and enforcing sanitation and quality of products and service standards and procedures
    • Ensure an effective learning environment by coaching employees, orchestrating learning opportunities and providing relevant, high impact feedback.
    • Assist in interviewing and hiring of retail staff
    • Manage employee performance by clearly defining job responsibilities and standards of performance, providing clear, thorough and timely feedback.up to and including corrective action
    • Monitor staff attendance, reviews and approves various requests and authorizes all overtime and verification of timecards
    • Responsible for stock and inventory
    • Communicates with other departments for Grab and Go product ordering and placement
    • Responsible for daily register and safe reconciliation
    • May assist at other restaurants on campus 
    • Responsible for costing out and pricing new items
    • Other duties may be assigned to reach individual and organizational goals

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE 

    • High school diploma or equivalency.  Associate’s Degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Culinary and/or supervisory experience required. ServSafe certification preferred. 

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS  

    • Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch and twist
    • Continued pushing, pulling, standing grasping and reaching
    • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds occasionally

     

    SCOPE AND DIRECTION 

    •  Reports to: Senior Dining Manager
    •  Direct Reports: This position has direct reports
    •  FLSA Status: Non Exempt
    •  Rate of pay: $18.50 p/h
