This is police work involving the protection of life and property through the enforcement of laws and ordinances. The Department is accepting applications for Police Officer (Florida Certified Law Enforcement Officers) and Police Cadet (Full Academy Sponsorship Program -or- Equivalency of Training Academy Sponsorship for out-of-state Certified Law Enforcement Officer). Certified Police Officer candidates may be eligible for a new hire incentive payment and a higher pay grade for prior law enforcement experience. TO QUALIFY
Qualified applicants must possess and maintain a State of Florida Class "E" Driver License; are at least 19 years of age; must meet the education requirement of 30 semester hours (for full academy sponsorship), 60 semester hours (for Out-of-State and Florida Certified law enforcement officers) or the requirements for exemption of college hours based on three (3) years of military or two (2) years of sworn law enforcement experience; and must meet all criteria of the City's current "Selection Standards for Police Officer Positions". Selection Process
Selection Process: Candidates that meet all the selection standards may be invited to participate in the pre-employment screening process to determine the most qualified applicants.
