    Our health system is part of a larger organization, Nashville-based Ardent Health Services. Ardent Health Services includes 30 hospitals and more than 200 sites of care.

    We have an exciting opportunity to join BSA as a Security Director.

    POSITION SUMMARY

    The Director of Security is an Armed Security Officer who runs the operations of the Security & Emergency Preparedness Department. The Director of Security & Emergency Preparedness has responsibilities including, but not limited to, overseeing Security & Emergency Preparedness operations, conducting training, staffing, scheduling, employment development, and budget performance improvement activities.


    Responsibilities

    • Provide leadership and direction in all areas of security, loss control, security best practices and security programs including strategic planning and hospital wide collaboration.
    • Collaborate with Hospital Clinics, BSA departments, and external groups to effectively and proactively identify and resolve security related issues.
    • Establish and implement short and long range organizational goals, objectives, strategic plans, policies, standards and operating procedures; monitors and evaluates effectiveness, and effects changes required for improvement that will ensure the highest level of security for staff and assets and the lowest risk of loss and liability to the organization.
    • Design, establish and maintain an organizational structure and staffing to effectively accomplish the organization's goals and objectives; works with HR to recruit, employ, train, supervise, and evaluate staff.
    • Manage and monitor the security department budget and annual long-range improvement.
    • Monitor security conditions and conduct ongoing analysis of data received from both external and internal sources, and will advise Administration on appropriate risk mitigation strategies.
    • Develop and implement a security training strategy for the organization and ensures appropriate steps are taken to maintain compliance.
    • Oversee and provide direction for major security related projects and physical security technologies including but not limited to; various card key access/control systems, alarm systems, video surveillance systems, security services, and various other related systems.
    • Oversee and direct security efforts to identify security initiatives and standards. Provides technical expertise and facilitates implementation.
    • Participates and provides leadership on various hospital-wide security related committees, councils and process improvement teams, acting in a leadership or advisory capacity.
    • Provide guidance regarding "best practice" security standards, solutions and guidance to maintain a secure environment for the protection of patients, visitors, staff, and property.
    • Interpret security laws, regulations and requirements; directs subordinates in enforcing compliance; develops and maintains relationships with law enforcement, regulatory agencies, and other interested parties.
    • Oversee security incident response planning and investigation of breaches; assists with matters associated with such breaches.

    COMPLIANCE RESPONSIBILITES:

    • Completes mandatory annual Net Learning modules in a timely manner.
    • Uses appropriate safety precautions.
    • Supports the current Accreditation Organization, ISO, Federal and State Regulations.
    • Supports patient safety and compliance goals.
    • Attends departmental meetings per policy.
    • Complies with BSA's Code of Compliance.
    • Complies with policies as appropriate.
    • Regular attendance at work as required by department operations.
    • Maintains patient confidentiality and HIPAA at all times.

    EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS:

    • Assume leadership role and oversight of emergency preparations and coordinating efforts with departments and participating agencies.
    • Serve as information resource and proactive guide, as requested, on the development, testing, and update of hospital campus disaster preparedness and emergency management planning strategy.
    • Serve as member or assigned designee of emergency management committee and will be actively involved to ensure we are identifying and meeting best practices toward an objective of identifying and encouraging collaboration and coordination of activities among departments.
    • Serve as a central repository of Emergency Management and Disaster Preparedness Plans, Procedures, and Standards.
    • Maintain a comprehensive knowledge of BSA plans, procedures, and contact resources.
    • Maintain a master calendar of tests and other emergency management events.
    • Coordinate regularly with key members to discuss/present reports on the status of planning efforts hospital-wide and /or results of testing and evaluation of plans and exercises.
    • Maintain a consistent level of proactive threat intelligence, analyzing information in order to provide solutions in emergency events.

    Qualifications

    Education and Experience:

    • Two years Associate Degree/Level Required
    • Two years access/control operating experience - Preferred
    • Previous law enforcement, military and /or security experience preferred

    • Weapons training in an urban or tactical environment preferred

    • Three - five years of supervisor experience

    • Previous healthcare security experience preferred

    Licensure and Certifications:

    • Must be able to obtain a valid Level III License with the Texas Department of Public Safety. -IS 100, 200, 700 & 800, 906, 907, 240.B, 18, 19, 20, 21, E 300 & 400 FEMA Certifications, Pepper Spray Certification, & Supervisor IAHSS Certification preferred. Must have completed the BSA MTS Hiring Course.
    • For insurance purposes, must have a clean driving record and be at least 21 years of age.
    • Crisis Prevention Intervention Certification - Preferred

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
