    Job Description Summary

    Michigan Technological University's Global Campus is an initiative launched in 2021 that makes the possibility of earning an online graduate degree or certificate available to a broader range of students, including working professionals and career changers. MTU Global Campus is committed to enhancing opportunities for nontraditional students and industrial partners. The Global Campus team provides strategic direction to develop and drive an online and continuing education strategy to ensure the university meets nontraditional and online education needs through evolving learning modalities, helping professionals remain competitive in the marketplace, and helping industrial partners access skilled employees.

    The Director of Global Campus and Continuing Education is responsible for the operations of the global campus, directly managing staff (admissions, marketing, support services) and financial management (invoicing/payments). This "hands on" working role involves close collaboration with academic departments, faculty, and staff to oversee online degree and non-credit programs. The Director evaluates and suggests innovative concepts, technologies, and delivery modes for online learning, ensuring the quality of online courses and compliance with accreditation and regulatory standards. Additionally, they act as the contact for marketing and corporate partners.

    Essential Duties & Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned)

    • Direct the operations of the Global Campus, including staff supervision (hiring, evaluation and training), marketing, enrollment, and coordinator personnel.
    • Develop new and maintain current programs in collaboration with departments and faculty.
    • Collaborate with and advise deans/chairs or other supervisors to ensure the following: the instructional quality of courses/programs; identify and employ areas for improvement in courses/programs in conjunction with the Center for Teaching and Learning.
    • Works with the Graduate School, Provost Office, and Registrar's Office to ensure proper
      communication, resolve student issues, and implementation of new programs.
    • Enhance educational experiences for students relating to online programming.
    • Develop and implement plans and policies for online learning, perform annual program
      assessments and financial management.
    • Expand the infrastructure for online learning for degrees, certificates, and professional
      development programs, including workforce development.
    • Identify and research new revenue streams for the global campus.
    • Work with internal and external partners to provide non-credit training, hiring of facilitators, development and delivery of programs and payment structure.
    • Manage partner relationships and projects with third-party service providers.
    • Build strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders; evaluate
      recruitment success through marketing and recruitment efforts.
    • Support research centers activities as needed (e.g. Traverse City, Grand Rapids, Ann Arbor).
    • Conduct university business in a professional and ethical manner that includes the
      university core values of integrity, empowerment, service, learning, and collaboration.
    • Communicate effectively in a professional, tactful, and courteous manner with students,
      employees, faculty, partners, and the general public.
    • Ensure that all activities are conducted within the established university policies, FERPA
      guidelines, and other applicable laws pertaining to employment and education.
    • Perform assigned responsibilities, other related duties, and tasks according to established
      practices, procedures, techniques, and standards in a safe manner and with minimal supervision.
    • Facilitate HLC compliance standards for distance learning with academic programs.
    • Travel up to 10% of the time.
    • Apply safety-related knowledge, skills, and practices to everyday work.
    • Commit to learning about continuous improvement strategies and applying them to everyday work. Actively engage in University continuous improvement initiatives.
    • All other duties as assigned.

    Required Education, Certifications, Licensures (minimum requirements)

    • Master's degree in business, management, instructional design, or a related field or equivalent
      working experience

    Required Experience (minimum requirements)

    • Previously served in a successful leadership role within a university system.
    • Demonstrated experience in program, policy and operational development.
    • Previous administrative experience including operational, budgetary and personnel
      management.
    • Experience with program assessment and reporting in a university setting.

    Desirable Education and/or Experience

    • Ph.D. preferred.
    • Demonstrated experience in managing online/delivery programs in a Learning Management System (Canvas) or equivalent.
    • Experience with collaborative leadership of an organization, including managing online
      initiatives, the planning and marketing of online educational programs.

    • Demonstrated ability and willingness to travel.

    • Knowledge of Michigan Tech's education programs and delivery tools.
