Barbier Security Group(BSG) is currently seeking qualified Armed Security Guards for a prestigious private University in Oakland. *Applicants with Law Enforcement, Military, or a Graduate of a US Based Law Enforcement Training Academy experience will be prioritized. The role of Armed Security will be high visibility, deterrence, patrols, safety escorts, building checks, community engagement, and dispatch/gate support as needed. The Security team is cross trained to monitor all security, communications and fire/life safety systems, and is the liaison between campus personnel, students, law enforcement and BSG management. This team is staffed twenty-four (24) hours per day, seven (7) days per week. The team is directly responsible for the accurate documentation of routine and unusual events occurring on or near the facilities. Team must maintain an expert level of knowledge of the campus rules and always provide professional interactions that promote safety to, and confidence from, the people that encompass the property.

Schedule / Availability required: Hiring for ALL Shifts. Weekend availability is required. Firm start date of July 31st, 2023.

Hourly Rate: $35./hr

Guard Skill Set & Responsibilities:

• Display good communication and integrity skills
• Exhibit exceptional guest service skills with all individuals
• Effectively control access to the property of authorized and non-authorized persons at vehicle entry points with Ambassador level communication and fluently understands the access levels/restrictions of all campus parking areas
• Demonstrate Safety as a primary focus
• Utilize specialized training and methodologies, to identify potential indicators of unusual and suspicious conduct
• Completes key service requests and task work orders for all identified maintenance needs
• Maintain situational awareness acting as a deterrent to undesirable behaviors and actions at all times
• Promote the value of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in all interactions
• Respond to critical incidents on and around campus to include: emergencies, evacuations, company policy violations, while working with law enforcement
• Provide escorts to/from buildings and vehicles throughout campus
• Perform bag checks and other inspections to verify no unauthorized items enter or leave property
• Displays professional uniformed appearance and maintains a work area with the same high regard for the reputation of the University
• Engage with students, faculty and visitors with an inspiring level of guest service that is knowledgeable of the campus and its amenities.
• Communicates with University staff effectively to ensure campus objectives are met
• Performs inspections of buildings/audits/fire watch/reporting all issues with facilities. Address cleanliness issues immediately to ensure a consistently immaculate atmosphere.
• Reports to Shift Supervisor

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Min of 2 years of full time Law Enforcement Officer or Military Experience or Graduate of a US Based Law Enforcement Training Academy required
• Candidates with no Law Enforcement experience are required to possess at least 5 years of Armed Security experience
• Valid California Guard Card
• Exposed Carry Firearm Permit required
• Current driver's license
• 3 years of driving experience while maintaining a clean driving record
• Must have full availability for a 2 week training program
• You must be at least 21 years of age to be considered for this role
• Must meet the physical demands, including but not limited to: Prolonged standing and walking throughout shift on uneven surfaces, concrete etc., constant use of hands and eyes, ability to move 50lbs
• Demonstrate strong computer proficiency, including typing skills and the ability to navigate through multiple computer systems
• Bilingual preferred
• Handcuff, pepper spray, and baton certification preferred
• Previous security responsibilities for a campus facility (either corporate or college setting) preferred
• Full availability for any shift, seven (7) days per week, including nights, weekends, and holidays preferred.
