This full time 12 month position is directly responsible for the coordination, planning, emplementation, management, and assessment of recreational and learning activities, including workshops, field trips and special events. These programs and activities for youth and their families help foster the development of respectful, caring, empowered citizens who contribute to their community in positive ways. The Assistant director, together with other Youth Services staff, is responsible for planning and implementation of many of the community programs (i.e.,Recreation Night, Community Play Day, Special Holiday activities, Dance Class & Recital, Safe Sitter, Mentoring Program, outh athletic programs grade 3-7, and various other Youth Center Activiites). This person will report and coordinate with the Director of Youth Services and will require working hours when youth are not typically in school. Work hours will flex around weekly activities that are planned with the expectation that regular hours will be late afternoon, evenings and weekends to coincide with youth center hours of operation. Bachelor's degree in education, human services, recreation managment or a related field; Associate degree will be considered based on documented applicable experience; must possess and maintain a current valid MI. driver's license while meeting all insurance carrier requirements; must be able to obtain a chauffer's license and necessary endorsements to drive company vehicle. Experience in an educational setting supervising youth, working with children ages 7-19 years; facilitating/coordinating activities for children ages 7-19 years and their families; documented experience in all areas of essential duties as presented above including program planning and implementation, oral and written communication skills, establishing and maintaining both paper and electronic files; budget compliance and managment. Experience in Microsoft Office Suite and report preparation, Google Suite application; knowledge of the Native American culture.
