As a Pharmacist with Asante at the Helen K. Spears Cancer Center, you will have unequaled opportunities to make the most of your talents and experiences! Our vision is to provide the best medication related care possible, within an organization that maintains very high standards for excellence and quality of care. Our hospital outpatient oncology and specialty infusion pharmacists serve as a resource to the interdisciplinary team while performing chemotherapy regimen reviews, renal dose adjustments, antimicrobial monitoring, pharmacokinetic dosing, and other clinical functions. Pharmacists work closely with in-clinic oncologists, nurses, and peers to provide optimal care to every patient. Our pharmacists also have opportunities to precept pharmacy residents and students. We utilize Epic Pharmacy software and Omni-Cell Automated Dispensing Cabinets, Electronic Medical Administration, and bar-coding at the bedside.
Our scheduling practices are designed with respect for a balanced lifestyle. Our pharmacists are employed as variable hours, variable days, with 10-hour shifts currently starting at 0600 or 0700 Monday through Friday.
Pharmacists must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively represent the Pharmacy to the patient and public and to interact with clinical teams. Pharmacists must possess a high level of attention to detail applied to all dimensions of medication management. They should also participate and contribute to various institutional/department committees.
