  • Job Summary:

    The Cancer Services Nurse Manager will work within the Cancer Center and oversee the center’s daily operations. The Cancer Center Nurse Manager will be responsible for educating staff on policies of the department, handling customer service, supporting physicians and staff, ensuring and tracking compliance, optimizing patient experience, and improving quality metrics. The ideal candidate for this role will have previous practice management experience within Oncology settings. 

    Principle responsibilities:

    • Assist in physician relations as necessary. 
    • Communicate effectively with staff, physicians and peers.
    • Develop and maintain a patient-centric culture, centered on patient scheduling, arrival and follow up activities. 
    • Ensure appropriate and high-quality staffing. 
    • Oversee and assist in the recruitment, hiring, evaluation and termination of staff.
    • Ensure compliance with all OhioHealth Southeastern Medical Center policies and procedures.
    • Maintain knowledge initiatives as it relates to the operation of the practice. 
    • Monitor and meet practice specific benchmarks inclusive of point of service and scheduling. 
    • Monitor practice operations to identify areas for improvement, expansion of services, and potential new market areas. 
    • Review and evaluate the effectiveness of current procedures and plans to develop and implement new, more efficient systems and procedures as required to improve service line operations.  
    • Serve as liaison to various OhioHealth Southeastern Medical Center departments and resources. 
    • Supervise and oversee budget.

    Minimum qualifications:

    • Valid Registered Nurse license
    • Bachelor of Science, Nursing degree (BSN)
    • A minimum of two years of experience in cancer related field
    • A minimum of two years leadership experience
    • Excellent interpersonal, decision making, facilitation, conflict resolution and investigative skills.
    • Ability to supervise and train staff including organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling assignments.
    • Knowledge of clinical operations, medical terminology, levels of care, treatment modalities, and the present health care delivery system.
    • High degree of skill in interpersonal relations with the ability to deal effectively on a one-to-one and group basis with physicians, nursing staff, administration, and other hospital departments.
    • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions.
    • Strong strategic and critical thinking skills, self-directed, goal oriented, and visionary.
    • Ability to coach employees, provide support and ability to foster teamwork and promote change.​​​​​​​
