Capacity Planner plans, measures, and monitors operating limits and capacities of an organization. Forecasts and plans capacity requirements to ensure alignment with department or unit and determine variance from production schedules, resource levels, and inventory demand. Being a Capacity Planner identifies and troubleshoots production issues or bottlenecks that impact plant capacity. Coordinates with internal stakeholders like engineering, sales, and marketing to understand and develop current and forecasted plans. Additionally, Capacity Planner utilizes manufacturing data and reports to drive key insights into efficiency, production rate, and other performance metrics. Produces reports that evaluate plant capacity and identify areas needing improvement. Recommends process and equipment improvements to optimize production capabilities. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Capacity Planner occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Gaining exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function.     Qualifications


    The Planner class is distinguished from within the series by knowledge, skills, education, and experience.

    Planner I

    Knowledge and Skills:

    • Excellent verbal and written skills, and ability to clearly correspond with community members, departmental staff and other tribal government team members, external agencies, and the public.
    • Ability to conduct research and outreach as needed to solve a diverse range of issues.
    • Organizational skills, ability to manage focus and priorities.
    • Ability to work cooperatively to analyze problems, and to prepare and propose solutions.
    • Computer literate, specifically with Windows OS, with an emphasis on Word, Excel, internet, and email

    Experience:

    • None required.
    • Experience in a planning or planning-related field (such as construction, environmental health or compliance, public works, real estate, resource conservation, or engineering), or experience in a high public contact setting involving public procedures and/or policies is desired.

    Education:

    • High school diploma or GED equivalency is required.
    • College course work in planning, environmental studies, natural resources, water resources, forestry, engineering, or a related field is desired.

    Planner II

    Knowledge and Skills - same requirements as Planner I, and:

    • Knowledge of basic planning principles and practices including but not limited to knowledge of methods, practices, and procedures used as well as planning terminology and technical report writing.
    • Ability to work independently and perform research and analysis needed to make informed decisions.

    Experience:

    • Two years of experience in a planning or planning-related field (such as construction, environmental health or compliance, public works, real estate, resource conservation, or engineering)
    • Experience and success in grant writing and grant funded program management is desired.

    Education:

    • Completion of two years of college with major course work in planning, environmental studies, natural resources, water resources, forestry, engineering, or a related field. Equivalent experience can be substituted.

    Planner III

    Knowledge and Skills - same requirements as Planner II, and:

    • An understanding or ability to discern local environmental, topographical, hydrological, and climatic conditions, applying appropriate techniques for environmental analysis.
    • Ability to understand and interpret jurisdictional laws, ordinances, requirements, and regulations including local land use and zoning, as well as National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and other state and federal environmental regulations.

    Experience:

    • Two years of experience equivalent to a Planner II

    Education:

    • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university, with major course work in planning, environmental studies, natural resources, water resources, forestry, engineering, or a related field. Equivalent experience can be substituted.

    Additional Requirements:

    Possession of a valid California Driver’s License and ability to comply with the Tribe’s driving policy and insurance requirements.
