Capacity Planning Supervisor leads a capacity planning team to plan and monitor an organization's operating limits and capacities. Forecasts and plans capacity requirements to align with production schedules, resource levels, and inventory demand. Being a Capacity Planning Supervisor identifies and troubleshoots production issues or bottlenecks that impact plant capacity. Coordinates with internal stakeholders to understand future plans and develop responsive capacity forecasting. Additionally, Capacity Planning Supervisor utilizes production metrics and manufacturing research to develop insights on processes or equipment and recommend improvements. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Capacity Planning Supervisor supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/ production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. To be a Capacity Planning Supervisor typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor.     Supervises and coordinates activities of planning and scheduling team by performing the following duties. Develops, implements, coordinates, and supervises activities associated with production planning, and costing activities.

    Essential duties and responsibilities

    • Oversee production planning and management activities within the organization.
    • Develop production plan, budget and timelines according to production specifications.
    • Determine production requirements based on plant capacity and production specifications.
    • Plan and oversee the workflow and schedules for production departments.
    • Monitor production status and ensure timely delivery.
    • Identify delays and accordingly adjust schedules to meet deadlines.
    • Assist in production risk assessment and mitigation activities.
    • Notify customers on any delays and outages.
    • Provide excellent customer service and ensure customer satisfaction.
    • Evaluate current production processes and recommend improvements.
    • Assist in new product development and enhancements.
    • Conduct daily meetings to keep track of production schedules.
    • Ensure that finished products meet quality standards and customer specifications.
    • Determine equipment, materials and manpower required to complete production.
    • Resolve production issues and escalate unresolved issues to management promptly.
    • Assist in employee hiring, training, performance evaluation, retention and termination activities
    • This position may require knowledge of SOX / 404 internal audit controls and related documentation

    Education and Experience

    College degree preferred

    2-4 years supervisory experience in manufacturing setting


    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

    Manages employees in the assigned planning and materials departments. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this unit, in conjunction with the Director of Operations. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance, rewarding, and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving programs.

    Ability to read, comprehend, and write simple instructions, correspondence and memos.

    Mathematical Skills

    Possess the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measurement, common fractions and decimals.

    Reasoning Ability

    Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Possess the ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

    Intuitive/ERP software knowledge required


    Physical Demands *

    While performing the duties of this job the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, use hands and or arms to pull handles and push buttons and reach objects. Requirements may also include climbing, balancing, stooping, bending, reaching, kneeling, crouching or crawling. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

    Compensation

    $55,000-$85,000/year

    Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
