    About the Role

    The Pilot-In-Command reports to the Chief Pilot and is responsible for the safe and efficient conduct of the flight assignment and maintaining a high level of Customer Service. This position will require a full understanding of the CFRs applicable to Part 91, Part 133, Part 135, Part 137, and the company Operations Specifications and company manuals.

    What You'll Do

    • CFR 91.3 Responsibility and authority of pilot in command. The pilot in command of an aircraft is directly responsible for, and is the final authority as to, the operation of that aircraft, to include weather decisions. In an in-flight emergency requiring immediate action, the pilot in command may deviate from any rule of this part to the extent required to meet that emergency. Each pilot in command who deviates from a rule under paragraph (b) of this section shall, upon the request of the Administrator, send a written report of that deviation to the Administrator.
    • Reviews flight assignments and obtain briefing information regarding the purpose of the flight, weather, operating procedures, and any special instructions.
    • Prepares or supervises preparation of flight plan considering such factors as altitude, terrain, weather, range, weight, cruise performance, airport facilities and navigational aids.
    • Ensures aircraft is preflight, inspected, loaded, equipped, and manned for the flight assignment.
    • Ensures cargo is properly secured and provisions for passenger’s comfort, if applicable and emergency equipment such as life vest, etc. are aboard.
    • Determine compliance with duty and flight time limitations, properly certificated, adequately rested and in proper dress.
    • Ensures that all required forms, equipment, and material are on board the aircraft prior to flight.
    • Records mechanical irregularities and discrepancies and ensures that maintenance personnel are informed of the item recorded.
    • Verifies before beginning any flight that recorded items have been procedurally complied with, deferred, or corrected by maintenance personnel in accordance with the approved Minimum Equipment List for that aircraft, as appropriate.
    • Shall ensure that all passengers, if applicable are properly briefed prior to taxi and that emergency evacuation assignments are understood.
    • Files a flight plan if necessary.
    • He may delegate duties to other personnel but retains responsibility

    Your Required Qualifications

    • PIC must be highly knowledgeable of FAA regulations, Operations Specifications, Flight Manuals, Operations Manual, etc.
    • Qualified to serve as Pilot-in-Command in the CH-47D.
    • No FAA violations/warnings in last five years.
    • The ability to understand and follow instructions and the ability to concentrate is required
    • Excellent written, verbal, communication, and interpersonal skills.
    • Requires the ability to handle multiple priorities at the same time and the ability to follow through on all tasks assigned.
    • The ability to get along with others or to be part of a team.
    • Must satisfy the applicable USFS hour requirements
    • High School diploma or equivalent.
    • Preferred requirements:
      • 1500 hours PIC (Helicopter)
      • Must be proficient in vertical reference and or tank operations.
      • Must meet or exceed the USFS Pilot In Command hour and certificate requirements.
      • Four-year college degree
      • Technical knowledge of product line (CH-47D)
