Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Small Arms Repairer without more than normal supervision. The ability to perform common Small Arm Repairer tasks. Perform repairs, replacements, and adjustments of parts and assemblies on a variety of small arms; testing and troubleshooting a variety of fire-control instruments such as aiming circles, binoculars, panoramic, observation telescopes and their mounts, and collimators - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

- PHYSICAL EFFORT: Frequently lifts sub-assemblies or small weapons weighing 15 to 20 pounds. Incumbent often carries large parts, assemblies, or weapons weighing up to 50-60 pounds. Work requires walking, bending, stooping, crouching, kneeling, and long periods of standing. May be required to work in confined or awkward positions.
- WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed primarily in well-lighted and ventilated shops with occasional trips to firing ranges. Exposure to excessive noise from test-firing weapons; possible injury due to handling tools and weapons; contact with dirt, grease, dust, solvents and fumes. Frequently exposed to the possibility of cuts, bruises, and sprains, as well as, to falls on slippery or inclined surfaces. Possibility exists of more serious injury when unloading jammed or misfired weapons, ricochet bullets, mis-handling of radiological items and acids.
