Cardiac Catheterization Technologist jobs in Shreveport, LA
Cardiac Catheterization Technologist performs diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterizations and other related procedures. Inserts small catheters through a needle into the blood vessels and into the heart so that X-rays, angiograms and other recordings can be taken to determine the heart's structure and function. Being a Cardiac Catheterization Technologist assist physicians with patient monitoring during surgery or procedures. Documents evaluation results, progress reports, treatment plans and other data using appropriate formats and systems. Additionally, Cardiac Catheterization Technologist some positions may require additional certifications such as: Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES). Requires an associate degree. Requires Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). Requires Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS). Typically requires State License. Typically reports to a manager. Cardiac Catheterization Technologist's years of experience requirement may be unspecified. Certification and/or licensing in the position's specialty is the main requirement. Job Description
As a cardiac cath lab technologist, you'll assist with catheterization of the heart and other electrophysiology procedures. Working in an operating room, cardiac cath lab or similar healthcare facility, you'll prepare equipment, assist surgeons, monitor patient vitals, help maintain sterile conditions and more. You might care for patients undergoing angioplasty, stent implantation, ablation, fluoroscopy or other procedures.
Minimum Requirements
- At least 1 year of recent acute care experience as a cardiac cath lab technologist
- ARRT Certification
- BLS Certification (AHA)
- Current state license
