Cardiac Technician operates heart/lung machines and related laboratory apparatus as well as physiological pressure monitoring systems. Prepares written documentation as required by the profession and the department, regarding individualized treatment plans, evaluation results, and progress reports. Being a Cardiac Technician may require an associate degree or its equivalent. Also may require completion of a certificate in health technology or scientific instrumentation in electrocardiography. Additionally, Cardiac Technician typically reports to a supervisor or manager. Cardiac Technician's years of experience requirement may be unspecified. Responsibilities: Performs peripheral vascular diagnostic and intervention procedures, assists with cath lab and Electrophysiology procedures,
Confirms patient identification by 2 patient identifiers. Monitors and documents continual hemodynamic status evaluation on all patients and
communicates patient status with provider, nurse and/or receiving nurse. Ensures and maintains aseptic technique for all sterile procedures.
Ensures needed supplies available and equipment functioning and available for all procedures. Performs duties using radiology safety practices
mandated by regulatory requirements. Performs all other assigned duties according to established policy and procedure as assigned by Director
of Cardiovascular Services or Cardiovascular Manager.
Qualifications
Registered as Radiology Technologist (RT(R) and Vascular Interventionist (VI) through American Registry of Radiologic Technologists or
Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) through Cardiovascular Credentialing with verification biennial. Minimum 6 months
experience. ACLS certified or within 6 months of hire. South Carolina Radiation Quality Standards Association (SCQRSA) certification
required with verification biennial.
