Cardiac Technician operates heart/lung machines and related laboratory apparatus as well as physiological pressure monitoring systems. Prepares written documentation as required by the profession and the department, regarding individualized treatment plans, evaluation results, and progress reports. Being a Cardiac Technician may require an associate degree or its equivalent. Also may require completion of a certificate in health technology or scientific instrumentation in electrocardiography. Additionally, Cardiac Technician typically reports to a supervisor or manager. Cardiac Technician's years of experience requirement may be unspecified. Performs cardiac and vascular Ultrasound procedures ascertaining appropriate imaging parameters are utilized, providing physician with a quality diagnostic procedure. The ability to perform diagnostic Ultrasound procedures desirable.
Assists the physician in performing invasive and biopsy procedures using sterile technique.
Ascertains that patient charges are entered correctly.
Maintains Ultrasound procedure rooms and work area in a clean and organized manner.
Maintains effective communication with medical staff, administrative staff, nursing staff and other team members.
Assists the organization in incorporating the guiding principles into its radiology and cardiology practices.
Ascertains that the delivery of patient care is compliant with the accrediting and regulatory agencies.
Assists in the Quality Assurance / Improvement Program of Imaging Services.
