Cardiac Technician operates heart/lung machines and related laboratory apparatus as well as physiological pressure monitoring systems. Prepares written documentation as required by the profession and the department, regarding individualized treatment plans, evaluation results, and progress reports. Being a Cardiac Technician may require an associate degree or its equivalent. Also may require completion of a certificate in health technology or scientific instrumentation in electrocardiography. Additionally, Cardiac Technician typically reports to a supervisor or manager. Cardiac Technician's years of experience requirement may be unspecified. The person serving as Cardiac Rehab Specialist is responsible for implementing St. Gabriel's Hospital Cardiac Rehab program. The Cardiac Rehab Specialist communicates with patients, families, physicians, and other professionals to establish individual therapy programs and provides total patient education and care in Cardiac rehabilitation. Along with the Director of Rehab Services the Cardiac Rehab Specialist plans for all functions of Cardiac Rehab including direct patient services, patient schedules, written standards and regulatory requirements. The Cardiac Rehab Specialist serves in a multidisciplinary capacity providing general services to a wide variety of populations including pediatric, medical, surgical, ambulatory, and orthopedics.
A four (4) year degree from an accredited college in a related filed is required; examples would include Registered Nurse, Physical Therapist, Occupational Therapist and Exercise Science/Physiology
Licensed in the State of Minnesota consistent with field of degree
ACLS certified within 6 months of start of employment
Preferred
One year of experience with cardiac rehab
Specialized post-degree education and training with emphasis on cardiac rehabilitation is highly desirable
Successful experience in delivering quality adult education programs
