Cardiology Director leads and directs the staff and programs of the cardiology department. Works closely with hospital staff and physicians to implement standards for patient care that comply with all laws and regulations. Being a Cardiology Director ensures the department meets the current needs and addresses the future needs of patients by introducing new technologies, services, and procedures. This position does not require MD. Additionally, Cardiology Director requires a master's degree. Typically reports to an executive. The Cardiology Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments. To be a Cardiology Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Job Responsibilities include the following:
Preparing patient charts prior to the office visit by verifying that all necessary paperwork, test results, imaging studies, lab results, hospital records are available for the scheduled appointment.
Scanning patient medical records received from the primary care physician and/or referring physician/ lab facility into the patient’s electronic medical record.
Checking daily for add-ons and electronically preparing chart and acquiring all needed records prior to scheduled appointment time.
Assisting clinical staff with acquiring patient health information as needed prior to or day of visit.
Contacting patients directly to receive updated information regarding the upcoming appointment.
Maintaining all medical records in designated area according to company policies and procedures.
Other duties, as assigned by the office supervisor/practice manager.
