    Description

    POSITION SUMMARY:
     

    Huston-Tillotson University is currently seeking qualified applicants for the Director of Career Services and Graduate Development position. This position is housed in the Division of Student Affairs and reports to the Dean of Student Affairs. The person selected will be responsible for developing job opportunities for students and recent graduates, providing career counseling to students and recent graduates, designing, and implementing educational opportunities related to career options in the students academic field, tracking and reporting employment statistics, representing the Office of Career Services and Graduate Development to external groups, and assisting with the daily management of office functions, among other duties.


    TASK & RESPONSIBILITIES
     

    Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    • Career counseling and referrals to assist students with the career development process, including clarifying objectives and obtaining occupational information
    • Career planning assistance through appointments with individuals, online assistance, and regularly scheduled workshops with groups
    • Adhering to all rules, regulations, and guidelines of the University, serving as an appropriate role model for students
    • Instructing career planning in college experience classes as needed
    • Establishing and maintaining effective and cooperative working relationships with students, alumni, faculty, staff, employers, and the community
    • Planning and implementation of Career Fairs and on-campus recruiting events
    • Distribute information on internships, summer jobs, and local part-time jobs
    • Maintaining online recruitment system and work closely with webmaster to update career services website
    • Regular reporting of department metrics
    • Research relevant data to support department growth
    • Assist in the development of a budget, supervising expenditures, and maintaining fiscal responsibility
    • Supervise graduate interns and work study staff
    • Attend all Student Affairs staff meetings and training events
    • Service on University committee as assigned

     

    SALARY RANGE

     

    • $55,000 - $60,000 Annually, plus benefits!


    POSITION STATUS
     

    • Full-time; in-person

    Qualifications


    Bachelors degree required (masters preferred) with at least five (5) years of career services experience. The ideal candidate will have strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills with a strong customer service orientation. Organizational and planning skills are a must as is attention to detail. The ability to cultivate and sustain relationships with employers is essential. Candidate should be proficient in the Microsoft Office suite of products and in social media.
