  • JOB SUMMARY   

    The Director of Career Services oversees all aspects of Fedcap’s Career Services contracts (Career Compass, YouthPathways Bronx and YouthPathways Manhattan) including all operations, program implementation, management, and contract compliance. The Director ensures that all contractual goals are met or exceeded and provides direct supervision to YouthPathways program directors, Career Compass program director and the Operations Manager. The candidate should have strong operational, program management and leadership skills. They will reflect the Fedcap values of teamwork, collaboration, and innovation. 

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    • Provide leadership oversight of Fedcap’s Career Service contracts ensuring all programs are in compliance and meet contractual goals and requirements.
    • Directly supervise program directors for YouthPathways and Career Compass.
    • Continually focus team on high performance, providing ongoing feedback and coaching
    • Motivate and maintain a diverse and cohesive staff, ensuring that there is strong internal communication, coordination, accountability, and inclusivity.
    • Ensure that all program goals are met or exceeded, including outcomes tracking and reporting.
    • Ensure each department meets monthly/quarterly/yearly contractual goals and operationalize new goals set by funder. 
    • Work with program directors to develop and implement operational systems and procedures for client flow, outcomes tracking, program evaluation, use of space, supplies, etc.
    • Oversee and manage Career Service budgets with support from Fedcap’s finance manager to ensure appropriate spending, invoicing, and compliance with billing and finance policies and procedures. 
    • Communicate with funder, Human Resource Administration (HRA) on a regular basis regarding program/contract issues and questions.
    • Partner with internal and external stakeholders to leverage services. 
    • Monitor program outcomes, progress towards goals, and department specific outcomes; conducts program and department evaluation. 
    • Analyze program data on a continuous basis to identify best practices and areas where improvements need to occur.
    • Develops program materials and reports for senior leadership and program funders.
    • Represents the agency and program to senior leadership and program funders.
    • Conduct staff evaluations and provides staff development. 
    • Be knowledgeable about and abide by Fedcap policies and procedures, including accurate and timely updating and submission of all spreadsheets, reports, and paperwork. 
    • Ensure all contracts maintain appropriate staffing levels. 
    • Evaluate Career Service programs to measure outcomes and develop new initiatives as needed.
    • Meet with customers who wish to make complaints, need information, or want to provide feedback to the department.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Required Education and Job Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree in Human Services, Education or a similar field or comparable work-related experience.
    • Minimum 5 years management experience working with the economically disadvantaged, homeless, welfare recipients and other disadvantaged populations, at least three in a supervisory role.
    • Experience in meeting contractual goals and performance milestones.
    • Experience in developing and implementing workforce development and/or educational initiatives.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    • Demonstrated ability to lead a large, multi-site team to meet department and program goals.
    • Strong interpersonal skills, effective communicator, and strategic thinker.
    • Knowledge of workforce development/adult education practices and their implementation.
    • Ability to skillfully navigate web-based systems, spreadsheets, and other Microsoft Office programs.
    • Ability to manage and develop a large and diverse staff.
    • Ability to meet deadlines, juggle multiple priorities, and excel in a team environment.
    • Ability to develop community resources and partnerships.
    • Excellent writing and presentation skills.

    Supervisory Responsibilities

    This position manages staff and is responsible for the performance management and hiring of the employees within that department.

    Work Conditions

    This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

    Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

    This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are typically Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. but will be determined by your supervisor. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

    Travel

    Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected.
