    JOB OVERVIEW

    Reporting to the Chief Advancement Officer, the Director of Career Placement and Corporate Relations will lead our Partnerships & Placement efforts by developing differentiated strategies and setting the pace to land new hiring partners, maintain and cultivate existing relationships, and place our graduates into the first job of their new career. 

    This is a visible role with external stakeholders is responsible for identifying, developing, executing career programs new and existing business and industry partners. This is a centralized position supporting each Sustainable Education Business Unit (SEBU) to create and expand their career programs to meet the needs of the learning audience. The Director of Career Placement and Corporate Relations will work in partnership with the Director of Development and Grants to review data critical to program evaluation and reporting to funders on grants that support their SEBUs.

    This will be both “do” and “lead” position that will propel the organization, the team, and themselves forward.

    POSITION SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES AND EXPECTATIONS

    Career Placements:

    • Work in a consultative manner to grow and develop Career programs with SEBU leaders
    • Lead the team to develop and implement career placement initiatives and work to continuously improve current programs to improve quality outcomes and increase placements
    • Utilize data analysis to make improvements and drive program change where needed. Communicate these learnings both externally and internally.
    • Develop and implement program budgets 
    • Communicate with funders including employers on how funds are allocated
    • Utilize data and KPIs to execute the career placement program 
    • Organize both in person and virtual events to meet the needs of the learners in each SEBU
    • Report out successes and challenges of the program to SEBU leaders to promote engagement 

    External Partnerships:

    • Develop and maintain external partnerships 
    • Execution of MOUS with partners to ensure clear understanding and expectations
    • Explore new partners to expand programming
    • Work with SEBU leaders to take a consultative approach to determine needs and adapt or develop programs to meet their needs while ensuring it is in line with our strategic plan.

    Data Analysis and Evaluation:

    • Lead the data collection and analysis to create and maintain funnels needed to project outcomes
    • Monitor and evaluate tracking tools
    • Utilize data to monitor and improve programming
    • Utilize participant and employer feedback to make improvements to training or programming as needed.

    Leadership:

    • Supervise and motivate Career Placement employees, provide professional development opportunities and conduct regular evaluation of KPIs and performance.
    • Hire, Train and Lead Career Placement employees. Provide coaching and constructive development plan to help staff grow and excel in their role.
    • Provide leadership through strong team structure and communication 
    • Pro-actively communicate challenges, successes, and failures with leadership
    • Works effectively with the President while still reporting to the Chief Advancement Officer

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

    To be successful in this position you must be able to execute each of the position specific responsibilities while meeting the position expectations.

    POSITION SPECIFIC EDUCATION, SKILLS AND COMPENTCIES:

    Required:

    • Master’s degree in a related field with at least 5 years of job-related experience.
    • At least 2 – 3 years of supervisory experience. 
    • Ability and willingness to work with students and graduates from diverse political/socioeconomic backgrounds and a wide range of physical and academic abilities.
    • Ability to develop and give presentations.
    • Knowledge of career counseling and career development.
    • Excellent organizational skills.
    • Must be able to establish and maintain effective relationships with employees, administration, faculty, staff, students both on and off campus.
    • Impeccable professional customer service skills with exceptional follow-up and follow-through
    • Ability to take initiative and manage multiple tasks and projects at one time, delivering within deadlines
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
    • Strong interpersonal/human relations and counseling skills.
    • Good computer skills with spreadsheet, database software, word processing, web based job search databases and Windows software.
    • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations; ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
    • Ability to work in an ever-evolving environment. 
    • Ability to function effectively within a matrix organizational structure, maintaining open lines of communication while being discreet.
    • Ability to obtain a Valid Maine driver’s license with a good driving record.

    Preferred:

    • Experience in Green, Sustainability, or Environmental career fields.
