Position Summary:
This position works directly on various job sites as assigned to construct, install, repair, and renovate projects. The Carpenter is responsible for layout, installation, repairing, finishing, and maintain various structures, fixtures, and buildings. Other duties include designing, cutting, and measuring materials to plan specifications. Quality work and quality control is required during all stages of construction.
Work Functions & Responsibilities:
- Knowledge of construction trades, practices, procedures, techniques, tools, and equipment.
- Ability to read blueprints and follow basic instruction.
- Assist other carpenters and superintendents with structural design, planning, layout, and installation.
- Ability to do layouts, framing, roofing, finishing and trim.
- Light gauge metal framing, drywall, ceiling systems and insulation.
- Ability to assess the quality of woodwork and other job materials for imperfections and defects.
- Possess the basic tools required to efficiently perform any common building construction tasks.
- Compliance with local building codes and health/safety requirements.
- Ability to climb, crawl, lift, carry and manipulate heavy objects.
- Understand customer requirements.
- Problem solve and recommend job improvements, alternative methods, etc.
- Knowledge of job site safety rules and regulations (OSHA).
- Knowledge of methods, tools, and equipment used in carpentry.
- Ability to perform tasks on all areas and aspects of construction projects as requested.
Minimum Qualifications
- OSHA 10 Certified
- 4 years of prior laborer, carpenter’s helper, or other applicable construction experience.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints
- Must have a valid driver's License and provide own transportation to/from jobsites
Preferred Qualifications
- 5 years of applicable construction experience
- OSHA 30 Certified
Physical Requirements:
- Regularly required to stand, walk, talk, and hear.
- Frequently required to reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift/move up to 50 pounds.
- Semi-frequent stair climbing.
- Operation of power tools and other heavy machinery as required.
